Neutral FOTD w/ Lancome eyes

Do you ever have one of those days when you just can't, for the life of you, get a good picture of yourself? Ugg. I wasn't very photogenic today... maybe because it was early in the morning before heading to work, I don't know. But here is my FOTD! I did a very neutral look for work. It honestly looked a lot better in person. ENJOY!

Face:
SMASHBOX Photo Finish Primer
Revlon Color Stay Foundation in Medium Beige mixed with MAC Face and Body in N5
MAC MSFN in Medium Dark (very little)
Studio Finish Concealer in NW25
Ben Nye Neutral Set Translucent Powder (under eyes)
NARS Orgasm Blush
MAC Harmony Blush to contour cheeks

Eyes:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer
Lancome "Cafe Couture" brown quad (I just used three of the colours, its not labeled)
Lancome "Statuesque" to deepen the outer V
L'Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Eyeliner
MAC Pearl Glide in "Black Russian" on lower lash line smudged with MAC Contrast and Lancome "Darkroom"
Maybeline Lash Stiletto with a swipe of Bad Gal Lash in Blue
Ardelle Faux Lashes
MAC "Fascinating" eye kohl on waterline

Lips:
MAC "Myth" l/s
MAC "Wildly Lush" Plushglass

I had on MAC "Brave" Lipstick with "Revealing" Lipgloss prior to Myth... but I decided to go with a nude. I <3 Myth.

I think that's everything?! Anyone have any suggestions of what kind of makeup should I do next?

Day 1: Weight Loss and Exercise Plan

I've been wanting to lose some weight for a while. I'm not overweight, but I'm on the "heavy" side of the normal weight range for my height (I'm between 5'6" and 5'7"). I'd like to lose about 30 pounds. I'm not sure if that will be too much because I don't want to be skinny because I like my curves. I guess I just want to tone up some of my trouble areas and be in the lower range for normal weight.

Exercise:
I plan on doing 30-45 minutes of cardio, 5-6 days a week. I will be adding in some light free weight exercises in a couple weeks once I've shed a few pounds of fat. I'm afraid if I lift too much I will bulk up. When I worked in a factory building cars I developed a "man arm" because I was lifting a big bolting gun every 57 seconds putting in seat belts and airbags...etc. I got really muscular in my right arm and it was noticeably different than my left!

Every day I will be doing various kinds of abdominal work (i.e., crunches)

Every other day I will be alternating between lower and body workouts focusing mainly on my upper thighs and upper arms (which are my trouble spots I want to get rid of). Basically I'll be doing lots of squats and lunges, and TONS of tricep curls/extensions. My boyfriend made a little schedule I could follow a while ago, but I wasn't good with following a schedule. As long as I do some working out I should be fine.

Meal Plan:
Finally for my meals I tend to follow this chart (taken from "Body For Life" book):

Note: I don't eat EVERYTHING on this list (i.e., buffalo, random kinds of fish...etc.) and there are some things that I do eat that aren't on here (i.e., cereal).

For the chart, all you have do is choose a portion of protein and carbohydrate from each column to make a meal. Add a serving of vegetables to at least two of your daily meals! REMEMBER PORTION CONTROL!

One day a week I will allow myself to have a "cheat day" where I can eat whatever I want (portioned controlled of course). I couldn't live a satisfying life if I had to give up pizza. haha

For those who are interested I have an example weekly workout for when I start incorporating weights into my daily routine. I don't reps and sets down because it will be different for everyone. All exercises you can do at home w/ free weights without having to go to the gym and use machines which do pretty much the same thing!

A Day In Toronto = I HAVE to spend money

I'm back from Holidays! My life has been non-stop for the past week and I haven't had a chance to get on the computer for some time now. As you may already know I was in Toronto Sunday for the Blink 182 concert w/ Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French. It was absolutely AMAZING! Here are a few pictures from the concert:

In Toronto I picked up a couple things at Sephora, even though I told myself I couldn't buy anything because I'm on a budget. Also, when I got home today I had a couple things in the mail as well. So here is my little mini haul!

The nice thing about Toronto is that they give out a lot of random samples on the street. So I got some shampoo, shine serums, gum...etc. On the right side of the pic are all my free samples I got from Sephora. I got Bad Gal Lash in "blue", Smashbox Light PhotoFinish Primer, Make Up For Ever HD #120, Make Up For Ever HD #125, Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet #40.

St. Moriz Instant Self-Tanning Mousse and Ben Nye Neutral Set Translucent Powder I got in the mail today. I've been wanting to try both for some time now so hopefully they live up to my expectations. I also picked up some Revlon lipgloss in "Life's a Peach" because I liked how it looked in one of Natty's FOTDs. :)

I just got two things at Sephora. Both of which I have been eyeing but decided to buy spur of the moment that day. First of which is Clinque's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I've heard good things about this and was running low on my moisturizer I've been using so I decided to pick up a bottle and see how I like it. Normally I'm not too picky when it comes to moisturizers because lots of cheap drugstore ones work for me, but I tend to have skin on the dry side so I figured this would be perfect. Second, I bought Tarte cheek stain in "Green Siren". I saw Kandee use this in one of her Megan fox tutorials and I'm OBSESSED with Megan's dewy skin and glowing cheeks so I had to buy this. My friend also picked this up because I've been talking about getting this for a while now. It is such a beautiful colour. I tried swatching it on my hand today but the photos I took weren't doing it justice. I'm planning on doing a Megan Fox inspired FOTD soon so I'll try and re-swatch it then.

I haven't tried any of these products yet, but I'll let you know how I like them in the near future. I'm sure I'll be using some for future FOTDs. I also placed an order on Cherry Culture for a bunch of NYX lipsticks, lipglosses, and lip pencils. I mainly was in need of some variety in lip pencils because I only have two MAC ones. However, the lipsticks were soooo cheap (only $1.75) and the glosses were $2.00 so I HAD to pick up a bunch. $40 later... haha So expect a haul for that soon :)

Upcoming blogs and some news!

You may have noticed that I've been blogging A LOT today! Well that's because I'm going away for a week and I figured I'd leave some reading material on my blog while I'm gone. I'm so excited because Sunday I'm going to be going to Toronto to go shopping and to see Blink 182 perform at the Molson Amphitheatre with Weezer! Its going to be an amazing show. I've been to a lot of concerts this year (i.e., Lady Gaga, Katy Perry) and I'm probably going to do a post about them once I'm back! Then from Monday-Thursday I'm going to be heading up North to my boyfriends cottage to spend some of our holidays there. I'm really excited to just get away and relax. I also wanted to start my diet and exercise plan today, but to be honest, I'm probably not going to be able to eat all that well while up at the cottage. It's my holidays! Anyways, I'm going to try my best but I'll be making my first post next Friday on weight loss! I hope you all have an amazing week and I'll be DYING to blog when I come back!

My Top 5 Nail Polishes!

I haven't always had the best nails, but now that I have decent ones I'm starting to get into buying nail polishes. I use to bite my nails when I was younger, but I broke that habit (thank god!). What helped me was putting black nail polish on my nails so that if I was tempted to bite them then the black nail polish would go on my teeth! YUCK! When I was first starting out, my friends would laugh at me and say I have "black all over my teeth" and this broke the habit REALLY fast! Who wants to smile with nasty black stuff everywhere? After I finally grew my nails out, they were very brittle. I found that the best nail polish to use to combat this was Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails. This nail polish became my number one "go-to" for keeping my nails strong. I find when I repaint my nails too much they start to chip and flake so I always go back to Hard as Nails until my nails are back to normal.

Anyways, here is my top 5 favourite nail polishes!

From Left to Right: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails, Red Earth PK146, MAC Vestral White LE, MAC On the Prowl LE, MAC Love and Friendship LE

1. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - I've already talked about this one above, but its great if you are wanting to grow out your nails or if you find that they are brittle. I like the one in clear, but you can find ones that are tinted in pink...etc.

2. Red Earth in shade PK146 - Is such a nice HOT pink! You only need one swipe of this on your nail and it is so vibrant, and opaque. It's amazing. I haven't found a pink that I like more than this one. And it looks amazing against any skin tone.

3. MAC "Vestral White" LE - I'm just in love with white nails. It reminds me of the summer and that's how I've been wearing my nails a lot lately. Sometimes when you buy a white nail polish it looks like you just painted your nails with white-out, but this polish doesn't have that effect. Its a creme and goes on very nicely. However, you need two coats so your nail doesn't show through in spots.

4. MAC "On the Prowl" LE - This is probably my favourite nail polish EVER. So maybe Grey nails were "last season" or whatever...I don't care. I'm in LOVE with grey nail polish, especially this grey. Its a true grey, meaning that its not too cool, too warm and it doesn't have a tint of blue or brown in it at all. I haven't been wearing this colour much this summer, but I'll definitely be bringing it back come Fall.

5. MAC "Love and Friendship" LE - This came in the Rose Romance collection. Its a very pretty lavender purple. It looks really good against my skin tone and I've been wearing this a lot. I'm just really into the purples lately. My violet pigment, Snob lipstick...etc.

What are your favourite nail polishes of all time or of this moment?

Cute leggings, but what do I pair them with?

I bought these really cute leggings a few weeks ago, but haven't wore them because I have no idea what I should pair them with. I was thinking a black dress, but then I'd feel too...dark. Any suggestions?

Isn't my puppy so cute? She has to follow me around EVERYWHERE I go

Another Tag!

I was reading Beth's blog and decided why not do this tag as well. I have some pretty random answers, but that's just the kind of person I am. haha

1. What is your favourite item of clothing?
Yoga pants! They are so comfy and make your bum look nice! Haha I have a pair of TNA ones which I love.

2. What are your biggest obsessions?
Makeup, clothes, shoes

3. Who inspires you?
My friends. They give me the drive to do things I never thought I’d try and encourage me to continue the things I would normally have given up on.

4. Who is your favourite designer and why?
I like too many different designers to name just one.

5. What is your favourite song ever?
Don’t Stop Believing – Journey. It’s also my ring tone on my phone!

6. What is your favourite song right now?
Imma Be – Black Eye Peas. I can’t get enough of this song! It just makes me wanna break out and dance whenever I hear it.

7. If you were sweetie what would it be?
I assume “sweetie” means candy. So I would be a Cherry Blaster

8. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet- what words would describe your rainbow?
Black, Grey, White with the occasional colour. I love my neutrals. However, my favourite colour is probably purple.

9. Whats your favourite film?
The Notebook or Dumb and Dumber. They both make me cry. The Notebook makes me cry because it touches me emotionally and Dumb and Dumber makes me cry because I laugh so hard at it!

10. Who's your favourite actor?
Steve Buscemi

11. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Blink 182 Concert in Toronto! I'm going Sunday but I wish it was today... you don't know how excited I am. When I get excited for things I can never sleep properly. I'm like a kid at Christmas.

12. What are your three favourite smells?
- Hot Couture by Givency: its my fave perfume
- Giorgio Armani Gio or Swiss Army: reminds me of my man
- Vanilla scented ANYTHING!

13. What are your three favourite tastes?

- Chocolate
- Sour anything
- Pizza… mmmm

14. What is your most treasured possession?
I can’t say I really treasure possessions. What happens if you lose it? Haha I still have my childhood blankey… does that make me weird?

15. What did you always want to do/be when you grew up?
Until I was about 7 I wanted to be an Astronaut. After that I wanted to be a Psychologist, hence why I majored in Psychology at University.

16. If you were an ice cream what flavour would you be?

Peanut butter and chocolate. For no reason other than its my favourite…

17. If someone made a short film of your life, who would play you?
I’d want to play me! If that weren’t a possibility then I’d want Megan Fox because she has a fiery personality like I do.

18. What would your perfect afternoon consist of?
Launching my body off waves at the beach. Its just so fun! And why did I share this? haha

19. If you were a flower, what would you be?
Orchid.

20. Tell me a random thing....be it your favourite line from a song, scene from a movie or quote from a book.....tell me about something that you love.....
I can talk without moving my lips. It sounds like there is a person inside my throat. Kinda like ventriloquist, but not really… haha That’s about as random as it gets.

Now I tag all 14 of my followers! haha I don't have that many so I'm tagging you all if you read this ;) HAVE FUN!

Kim Kardashian FOTD!

Todays look is inspired by the beautiful Kim Kardashian. She refers to this look as "the Kimmel" because she wore it on Jimmy Kimmel Live. You can watch a tutorial for this look on youtube by clicking on the links below. Here is a screen shot of what I will be recreating.

Beauty Q & A - My Fave Products

I have a few favourite foundations. It depends on what kind of coverage I’m looking for. Here are my favourite sheer, medium, and full coverage foundations.

MAC Face and Body: This is a very sheer coverage foundation. I have N5 so it’s wayyy too dark for me at the moment, but was good for the summer. I wouldn’t recommend this if you have overly oily skin because it makes you look greasy after a few hours wear (even when setting with a powder). I have normal/dry skin so it works really good for me. It gives a very natural finish to your skin. Combine it with MAC MSFN and you are set! Currently I’ve been using this to sheer down my Revlon Color Stay and to adjust the colour. I absolutely love how the two combined look. This is my go-to foundation for the summer months. It’s sheer, light, and water-resistant, perfect for a day in the hot sun!

Make Up For Ever HD:
This is a medium coverage foundation. My skin looks flawless and very natural when I wear this. It’s a great foundation for day-time wear, but for pictures I prefer the look of a more full coverage foundation. I need to set this with a powder or else I’ll begin to look too shiny. Usually I just powder the T-zone and leave my cheeks “dewy” and I’m set. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth the extra money IMO especially if you want something natural and not cakey for the day-time. I think the worst thing is when people put too much foundation on and you can see it sit there on their skin. Yuck. For reference I wear #125.

Revlon Color Stay Liquid Foundation: This is my go-to full coverage foundation. I use the one for normal/dry skin and it has SPF 15(?) in it. It covers and evens out EVERYTHING! Also, you can’t beat the price! This foundation is often compared to MAC Studio Fix Fluid, and it’s half the price! A couple downsides to mention is that it dries REALLY fast so you got to work on one area of your face at a time. Also, when I wear this in pictures I find I look like a ghost unless I’m in natural lighting. The flash of a camera plus an SPF foundation distorts the colour of your skin. For reference I use medium beige.

I have slowly been building my brush collection since January of 09'. I don’t know what it is but this year I have REALLY gotten into collecting makeup, brushes, and other beauty products. It has become a little obsession of mine. Anyways, I use to own pretty much the whole collection of QUO makeup brushes (if you are from Canada you know QUO is the Shoppers Drugmart brand). However, being the MAC addict I am now, I own several of their brushes. Face Brushes: 109, 116, 134, 182. Eye Brushes: 217, 219, 224, 227, 239, 266. On my wish list I would like to own some more face brushes, but I have dupes for them in QUO so I have yet to buy them. They include the 168, 187, 190, 194. What are your favourite/essential makeup brushes?

This is so hard for me. I loveeeee lipstick. I use to be more of a gloss girl, I guess I still am to some degree, but I have gotten into lipsticks like crazy. The Back2MAC program has satisfied this little addiction very nicely. At the moment my top 5 lipsticks are: MAC Snob, MAC Lovelorn, MAC Shy Girl, MAC Myth, NYX Fig.

I'm not too particular when it comes to lipglosses. Some of my favourites are L'Oreal Colour Juice (especially Grape Soda), MAC Partial to Pink, and the NYX Round Lipglosses (i.e., Sorbet, Whipped, Pink, Doll Pink...etc.).

Hands down Stila Eye Kajal. If you haven’t tried this you must, and if you know of anything comparable for less let me know… haha. I will probably go broke in repurchasing this stuff because I use it pretty much every day now. It goes on so smooth and doesn’t tug at your eye, and it will stay put in your waterline! I hate having to keep reapplying eyeliner under my eye and this stuff is amazing! Another HG eyeliner is L'Oreal Colour Intense Liquid Eye Liner. I've been using this for years and years (since it first came out) and I haven't found a liquid liner I love more. The applicator brush is easy to do thick or thin lines and wings. I've probably repurchased this product more than any other beauty product I own.

At the moment my fave mascara combo is Maybeline Lash Stiletto with L'Oreal Voluminous mascara over top. I haven't even been curling my lashes and this makes my lashes look AMAZING. I couple other go-to mascaras are MAC Zoom Lash and Covergirl Lash Blast.

My all time favourite is EVERSUN Beauty Powder Blush by MAC. I can’t say enough good things about it. This blush NEEDS to be part of the permanent line. Love love love EVERSUN. My favourite MSF is So Ceylon. Yet again I could go on and on about this because its such a beautiful colour, I'm obsessed! It is also LE so I don't know what I'll do when I run out... I don't want to think about it. haha

I love MAC eyeshadows. You really can't go wrong with any of the colours, but some of my favourites include: carbon, naked lunch, nylon, wedge, dazzlelight, poison pen, plum dressing... I could go on and on. I've only encountered two MAC eyeshadows I did not like: Nocturnelle and Humid. Nocturnelle because it is so sheer and I dislike the texture and application (the colour would be AMAZING if it wasn't such a bad formula), and Humid (just because it does NOTHING for my eyes...it makes me look dirty).

I don't use powder foundations because I don't like the look of them on my skin. I have normal/dry skin so I prefer the way a liquid looks, especially since I like the "dewy" look. Some of my favourite powders I use to set my makeup include:

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural: I use medium-dark and it sets my makeup into a nice matte finish without it looking powdery. As the name suggests, it's very natural in appearance.

Ben Nye Neutral Set Translucent Powder: I use this under my eyes to set my concealer so that it doesn't crease. I also use it to brighten the undereye area. This stuff is REALLY cheap and it works for me. I recently discovered this and it is definitely a HG setting powder.

MAC Blot Powder: I use medium-dark and I mostly use this for touch-ups when I'm going out of the house. I sometimes use this to set my makeup instead of MSFN. I would highly recommend this if you are like me and don't carry a lot of makeup in you purse. I throw in my Blot Powder and my lipstick/gloss for the day and I'm set!

I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by Natty @ http://nattyngeorge.blogspot.com
THANKS NATTY! <3

1st tag: Post a pic!

The Rules of this picture tag:
►Open your first photo folder
►Scroll down to the 10th photo.
►Post that photo and story on your blog.
►Tag five others (or more) friends to do the same.

My first album on my computer is full of puppy pictures! Here is number 10!:

This is a picture of my puppy, Bella, at 5 months. Bella is now 9 months so she's considerably bigger than she is in this picture. The other dog is my families Golden Retriever, Molly. Bella looks like she could be related to Molly but they actually aren't related. I thought Bella was going to look so different when she grew up because she looked a lot different than Molly did as a puppy, but now Bella is a spitting image of what Molly looked like when she was a puppy! Anyways, this particular picture was taken early one morning when I went to visit my parents for the weekend. I'm ALWAYS up early in the morning now because I have to take out Bella and feed her. I was soooo tired, it was like 7:30 am and it was pretty cold outside. As you can see there is frost on the ground. Though I was tired I thought the light was really beautiful and would make a great picture so I went back inside and grabbed my moms camera. They were both really tired when this picture was taken because we were running around outside for a while. They look SOOO happy and silly like they are smiling up at me, but the sun was so bright it was blinding them! haha I love this picture so much.

Now I tag Erica, Lacy, j_alaina, FabDiva20, Pau, Starla, Teri, Becky

Violet FOTD: "Make Green Eyes POP!"

So I was bored and did this look today. LOTS of cam whoring on my part...sorry haha. Also, I just dyed my hair yesterday to my usual dark brown. My hair was getting really light because I haven't had it done since February! This has probably been the longest I've gone without getting my hair done so I'm loving being dark again. It makes me feel sexy ;) hehe Hope you enjoy this FOTD!

Kim K BLONDE!

So one of my style icons, Kim Kardashian, went Blonde! I have mixed feelings about this... I think she looks beautiful regardless but I thought dark hair just "her". What do you think?

Sunday, August 9, 2009

I'm such a snob...

So my absolute FAVE lippie of the moment is MAC SNOB! I just feel like Barbie when I where this colour! Does anyone else loveee this colour? If you have ever wanted to try a purple lipstick, but were unsure, I would def. recommend this colour because it has a very light hint of purple with pink. I think its beautiful.

My Hair Routine For Sleek Shiny Healthy Hair!

My everyday hair routine is pretty simple. I don't use products in my hair on a day to day basis because I feel they weigh down my hair and I lose volume. I also wash my hair every other day so I don't strip my hair of its natural oils. When I can, I also let my hair air dry instead of blowing it dry. However, I'm usually in too much of a hurry to let this happen as often as I'd like. When flat ironing my hair I use a ceramic straightener and this adds shine. After, I usually spray the top of my head with a little hair spray (i.e., something cheap like Alberto) to smooth out any flyaways. On nights out I add a tiny tiny bit of shine serum (i.e., Paul Mitchell, Got2Be) to the ends of my hair to give it that extra sheen. Lastly, I think it helps if you switch up your shampoo and conditioner every once and a while and don't stick just to one brand. Right now I'm using Big Sexy Hair shampoo and conditioner, but I also use Herbal Essences interchangeably.
