October Favourites!

Wow! It's already the end of October! I can't believe how fast time is flying by these days. It has been 3 months since I started blogging and I've met so many wonderful people. I went out for Halloween last night and had an amazing time. I can't wait to show you all pics! I think my group of girls really pulled off each of our superhero/villians characters well. Anyways, monthly favourites are always fun to read, so here are mine!

MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator: This is one of those luxury products. Why does it have to be LE? I HATE LE products ESPECIALLY skin care. My face loves this stuff. I've been only using this about once a week because I want to save it. It makes my skin feel SOOO incredibly smooth that I want to buy more, but need to put my excessive beauty product spending on hold so I can purchase gifts for Christmas. *sigh.

Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline): This stuff is a great beauty product! Lipsticks have been very drying on my lips lately, but if I put some vaseline on them at night before bed they will be soft and moisturized by morning. I also have been using this on my lashes to condition them before bed. I've noticed a difference in my lashes and it's only been two weeks! I will definitely be keeping this up. Some days I even put this on my cheeks to give them a nice dewy glow. Why I never used this before I don't know. It's a miracle product for sure.

MAC Nylon eyeshadow: My favourite eyeshadow for highlighting! I loveeee Nylon. I've been using this a lot this month since it's a recent purchase of mine. If I could have only one highlight colour this would be it. I'll be repurchasing it time and again.

NYX Jumbo Pencil in "Milk":
A great base for your eyeshadows to stick to that not only is cheap, but makes your eyeshadow stand out more.

MAC 219 Brush: I use to always line my eyes with pencil or liquid liner, but now I line my eyes with eyeshadow (it stays on WAYYY longer). This brush has the perfect point for lining your eye with shadow, smudging and blending. I've had this brush for a year now, but it has been coming it quite useful lately now that I've started to line my eyes with eyeshadow more often!

MAC Shy Girl Lipstick: I'm into peaches and corals on the lips at the moment. Shy Girl is one of those colours I think would be universally flattering on everyone. I absolutely love this colour and haven't been able to find a dupe for it. If you know of anything close let me know.

Maybelline Lipliner in "Rose":
Another product I've been using very frequently this month. Also a new purchase and I'm in love.

I know I always have a lot of MAC products and never anything else, but that's because I'm a MAC head. It's not that I'm discriminatory to other brands, because I do pick up and try out other things, it's just my love resides with MAC. It is my first true love. lol

Hope your having an amazing halloween weekend! ♥

Happy Halloween!

I just wanted to say a quick HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all my followers! Are you doing anything special this year? If so, what are you dressing up as?! You know I'm being Poison Ivy and I made my own costume so hopefully it doesn't turn into a disaster. I'll be posting pictures in a few days. I probably won't be able to blog until Monday though since I will be out of town for the weekend. Hope you have a good day/night and be safe! I'm visiting my parents house and I'm looking forward to the candy... hehe What is your favourite Halloween candy/chocolate? I like too much chocolate to name just one and my favourite candy is anything sour!

Kreativ Blogger Award!

I was nominated by CRYSTAL for this award:

THANKS CRYSTAL!

To accept the award do the following:
1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 Kreative Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they have been nominated.

Here are some random facts about me. It was a bit hard to think of them since I've done a post similar to this recently. Can you relate to any of my 7?! :)

1. My perfect night would consist of being in my pjs and watching movies with either my man or my close girlfriends.

2. I love to bake and cook, but I HATE doing dishes (I think its the worst chore ever...I'd rather clean toilets and scrub floors...etc)

3. I have a job, but it's not where I want to be. Job hunting is the most tedious and depressing thing when all the "good" jobs are taken by "more experienced" individuals.

4. I love a good book. I can spend a whole day reading when I get absorbed in one.

5. I love green tea and I try and drink one every morning. It makes everything better.

6. I would really love to travel the world more. I've only been to a few places before. Albuquerque New Mexico, Buffalo, Detroit, Cancun Mexico.

7. My horoscope sign is ARIES and, from what I've read, I think it reflects my personality VERY well

I nominate:
Crystal S

FOTD using MAC Aquavert

Hey beauties!
Here is a look I did yesterday using MAC Aquavert eyeshadow. It is a very wearable look for daytime. It is one of those colours which I didn't know exactly what to pair it with, but I think I came up with good choices. I was having trouble capturing the colour with my camera. It is a really pale green and looks even more beautiful in real life. It doesn't look like I'm wearing that much eyeshadow, but it really did stand out better in person. Hope you enjoy!

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
SMASHBOX Photo Finish Primer
Make Up For Ever HD Foundation #125

TARTE Cheek Stain in Green Siren
MAC Dollymix Blush
MAC Harmony Blush
Benefit HighBeam
MAC Walnut Brow Shader

EYES:
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
MAC Aquavert e/s
MAC All That Glitters e/s

MAC Crystal Avalanche e/s
MAC Ricepaper e/s
L'Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Liner
L'Oreal Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara
MAC Fascinating Eye Kohl

LIPS:
Maybelline Rose Lipliner

NYX Pink l/g

Do my eyelashes look longer or thicker to you? I heard that if you put Vaseline on your eyelashes before you go to bed it will condition them. I've been trying this trick for 10 days now and I notice a difference already! I was going to wait a month to do a post on this, but I really had to let you know how well I think it's working!

TUTORIAL: How to depot and delabel MAC Eyeshadows

One of my friends has never depotted any of her MAC eyeshadows before so this post is dedicated to her and anyone else who doesn't know, or is looking for a new way of, how to depot. I know many of you already know how to depot shadows since there is countless blogger posts and youtube videos about this topic. However, I'd like to share my way of depotting and delabeling MAC eyeshadows! How do you depot your shadows?

You will need:

- Straightening Iron
- Waxed Paper
- Knife
- Pen
- Magnets (I use random ones you get sometimes with flyers and newspapers...etc.)
- Scissors
- Towel
- OPTIONAL: I use this sewing needle contraption thing that isn't a needle, but I don't know what to call it. You can just use your knife for this part.

Step 1: Getting the Magnets ready
You will need these magnets to adhere to the bottom of your eyeshadow pan when it comes out of the plastic pan. You don't need to make these perfect or as big since they will be covered by a label (I will get to this later). I trace an already depotted eyeshadow with a pen on the magnet and cut out the circle with my scissors. I got two magnet circles ready because I will be depotting two eyeshadows today.

Step 2: Depotting your eyeshadows
I use a knife for this but any pointy object that can get between the plastic pan and the pot will work. Look for the space between the plastic pan and the pot and put your knife in the corner and gentle turn it. You do not need a lot of force or else your eyeshadow will go flying! They come out very easily with just a little turn.

Step 3: Heating the plastic pan
I use heat for this part. I place the waxed paper over my hair straightener (I use a medium heat setting) and place the plastic pan on top. I hear some people also use an iron. I wait about 20-30 seconds (you may have to wait less or longer depending on how hot your heating element is.

Step 4: Taking the eyeshadow out of the plastic pan
This is wear you will need a towel. After about 20-30 seconds the plastic should start to melt a little bit. Remove your eyeshadow and flip it over on top of your towel (the towel is there to help keep your eyeshadow from being damaged). Then press your knife or pointy object (I'm using that sewing tool) and push out the pan. BE CAREFUL, THE METAL PAN IS HOT!

Step 5: Place the magnet on the eyeshadow
The eyeshadow pan and the glue will be hot, so place the magnet that you set aside on the back of your eyeshadow so that it adheres(magnet side facing, not advertisement).
I don't know why sometimes my pictures flip on me when I upload them to blogger...

Step 6: Remove label from eyeshadow pot

Place eyeshadow pot on heating element and wait another 20 seconds until the sticker starts peeling off. Place your knife, or pointy object, underneath the label and it should easily come off. Now place the label over top of the magnet/eyeshadow and you are done! Now bring back 6 empties and get a free lipstick! I really want Vegas Volt...

EOTD w/ my new MAC eyeshadows!

I just got home from work and took a picture of my eye makeup today. I used three of the four new MAC eyeshadows I got in the mail yesterday.

I used:
- NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk (as a base)
- Vanilla e/s (to highlight, though next time I'd much prefer Brule)
- Dazzlelight e/s all over lid
- Plum Dressing e/s in the outer corner blended w/ a tiny bit of Sketch and Expresso mixed
- Crystal Avalanche in the tear ducts to brighten the eye

Plum dressing really brings out the green in my ever changing hazel/green eye colour.

Mini MAC Eyeshadow Haul + Swatches (reposted)

I came home today with a package from none other than MAC! I took advantage of their free shipping (even though they always have free shipping, but this is how I justify purchases) and got 4 new eyeshadows! One of my besties bought Aquavert eyeshadow and I loved how it looked on her so I had to buy it before it went away (it's in the "Goodbyes" section of www.maccosmetics.com). I also bought Dazzlelight, Crystal Avalanche and Plum Dressing, all of which, surprisingly, are Veluxe Pearl (I never intended to do this). I'm definitely going to have fun incorporating these shadows into my looks this week. Also, I only have two spots left and I have filled 2 15x Palettes! I never thought I would need more than 2 palettes and now I'm going to be going to 3 because there is a bunch more eyeshadows I want to purchase. Here are some swatches! What MAC eyeshadows do you have your eye on?

I've mentioned this before, but my puppy doesn't leave me alone. Here she is sniffing my eyeshadows and giving me a heart attack (after this picture was taken, she threw her paw right beside "Plum Dressing").

Aquavert

Plum Dressing

Dazzlelight

I forgot to take a picture of Crystal Avalanche for some reason... It's one of those days...

Left to Right: Aquavert, Crystal Avalanche, Dazzlelight

Plum Dressing

Dazzlelight looked really similar to my Nylon eyeshadow except Nylon has more of a sheen to it. I need to stop buying beiges/nudes. I swear I have the same colour in multiple finishes. Nylon is on the left, Dazzlelight is on the right

UPDATE: I reposted this because my comment boxes weren't working for some reason. I'm wearing a combination of Dazzlelight, Plum Dressing and Crystal Avalanche today and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Dazzlelight is my NEW FAVOURITE EYESHADOW!!!

L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Review

I've been using L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes for about a week and I have mixed feelings about this mascara. In the past I've HATED any mascara I've tried that you had to apply a primer with. I actually liked this the first time I used it (which is a surprise to me because I never like any new mascara the first time I use it).

LENGTHING: Product says it can make your lashes up to 80% longer. If my lashes were that long they would be over my eyebrows, seriously. I have naturally long lashes and this did hardly anything for them. I noticed such a slight difference that I would just buy any other lengthening mascara that didn't have the tube technology and it would produce the same results. I've never used a "tube" mascara before so I thought that these tubes would just form around the tips of my lashes and extend them out. Boy was I wrong. The tubes actually formed around my entire lash. Anyways, for length this is slightly better than other mascaras I've tried, but it didn't give me the "lash extension" effect I was hoping for.

VOLUME: Because the tubes formed around the entire lash, this did give them some volume. There is so much gunk that forms around each lash that you better curl your lashes when using this or else they won't hold up, they will fall flat. I actually loved how my lashes looked in pictures with this. However, I feel like I had to use too many coats to get the desired effect I wanted. It took me forever just to cover the primer, and even after it didn't seem as black as I wanted it to be.

SEPERATION: My lashes would be nicely separated if I didn't have to coat on so much of the mascara to cover the primer to get the look I like. However, if I just use the primer lightly and then apply the mascara, my lashes kinda look like I just used Maybelline lash Stiletto, which is a good thing because Lash Stiletto I ALWAYS use for separating my lashes.

REMOVAL:
A+++++ for removal! I never had a mascara remove so easily in my life! It says its 100% smugeproof and they are extremely accurate when saying this. Warm water is key for removal. One of the days wearing this I had a bad day and was crying and it didn't make those mascara tears running down my face or black mascara eyes, it actually stayed put! I hate waterproof mascaras because I find them so hard to remove, but this kinda acted like one for me without the hassle removing it later. When removing the mascara I didn't expect the gunk would look like taking off my lashes! I looked at my fingers and thought "my lashes better not be in those tubes". It was unsettling even though I knew it was going to happen. The mascara isn't all that bad if it weren't for this part. It just makes me uneasy for some reason...
I can deal with this...

...Seriously?!...Ew.

All-in-all I think this is a good mascara (minus the gunk that disturbs me). Volume, Length and Separation is all up to my standards and I didn't have to use two different kinds (which I normally do to get all three aspects)! . I probably will repurchase this mascara again just because the removal was so easy and didn't smudge around my eyes (that honestly scored big points for me). However, I still think I like my combo of Lash Stiletto and Voluminous better.

UPDATE "BIG, FULLER, LONGER LASH EXPERIMENT": I hear a lot of people apply Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly) to their lashes before bed to condition them. I will be testing this out for the next month and will be making a post mid-November to tell you how my lashes are looking :)

Mini NYX Haul + Swatches! LOVEEEE ♥

My last haul from NYX was mostly lip products (click here to see post) and, surprise, this time I decided to purchase even more lipsticks and glosses! Just to let you know, I placed this order a few weeks ago and I just received it last week. Anyways, NYX products at Cherry Culture have been really cheap lately and they also had 20% off of everything so I had to pick something up (I wish I would have picked up more). I honestly loveee their lipsticks and glosses. They have such a great variety of colours and they are sooo cheap! I've been dying for a berry lip colour every since I saw Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body (yes, I obsess about makeup in movies, shows, magazines...etc, I know I have a problem lol). Anyways, I ordered a lipgloss I thought I might like and it's perfect! Here is everything I purchased:
From left to right: Fig, Black Cherry, Sorbet, Pink, Pink Frost, Garnet
NYX Round Lipsticks in "Fig" and "Black Cherry". To see a swatch of "FIG", click here
NYX Round Lipgloss in "Sorbet" and "Pink"
NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in "Pink Frost" and "Garnet"
Pink Frost
Sorbet
Pink
Black Cherry
Garnet♥
As you can see I bought a back up of "Fig" because I love the colour so much. Overall I'm really happy with my purchases. I'm the most excited about "Garnet" because it is almost exactly the colour I've been searching for. "Garnet" appears darker in person, but you can play around with the colour making it lighter or darker. I put a very thin layer for the swatch I took. I'm a bit disappointed in "Black Cherry" because I thought it was going to be a bit different than what it was. However, it makes a good colour for lips for my Poison Ivy costume, so I'll probably use it then. I love "Sorbet" because you can layer it over other lipsticks and it gives it such a pretty, sparkly finish. The downside to all the glimmer effects in the gloss is that when you take it off you can smear glitter EVERYWHERE. When I was switching between colours for swatches I got it all around my mouth and it was hard to remove. I wanted "Pink Frost" for highlighting on my lips and it will be a perfect colour for really dramatic smokey eyes. "Pink" is just...hot (not very helpful i know, but it looks a lot prettier and more vibrant in person I think).

TUTORIAL: Jessica Burciaga (Playmate) Inspired

I did a Jessica Burciaga inspired look several days ago (click here to see the post) and it was requested that I do a tutorial for this look. This is my first tutorial so I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't go into detail about my foundation routine. If you would like to see strictly a foundation tutorial I'd be more than happy to do one, just leave a comment below saying you'd like to see it. I hope this is helpful! There is a TON of pictures!

MAKEUP PRODUCTS (some not pictured because I always forget stuff):

EYE BRUSHES:
MAC 266
MAC 219
MAC 239
MAC 224
MAC 217
MAC 227

FACE BRUSHES:
MAC 182
MAC 116
QUO Duo Fibre
QUO Angled Contour

Step 1: Apply moisturizer, primer, foundation and brows

Step 2: Use 1 pump of MAC Strobe Liquid and apply to cheek bones and bridge of nose and blend in with fingers by lightly tapping from cheek to hairline.

Step 3: Using a MAC 116, apply MAC Dollymix on the apples of your cheeks and blend back to hairline.

Step 4: Using an angled contour brush, use MAC Golden Bronzer to contour cheek bones. Place brush in the hollow of your cheek (if you need to suck in your cheeks) and brush from corner of your mouth back to your hairline in the hollow. Your cheeks should look like the second photo (you can use more or less of each product... i like to keep it on the light side)

Step 5: Using a MAC 227 brush, apply MAC Nylon under the arch of your brow and blend.

Step 6: Using a MAC 239 eyeshadow brush, apply MAC Bronze eyeshadow all over the lid until you get the shape you desire (I like to angle mine and square it off).

Step 7: Blend out any harsh lines of the Bronze e/s you just applied with a clean blending brush. I like using the MAC 224 for this.

Step 8: Using a MAC 217 blending brush, apply MAC Black Tied to the outer "V" and blend lightly into the crease and bronze e/s. Try and keep it to the outer 1/3 of your eye.

Step 9: Fix up your lid and highlight by pressing more bronze e/s on the lid and nylon under the brow.

Step 10: Lightly blend everything together with a MAC 224 and you are done with your eyeshadow.

Step 11: Using Stila Kajal Eye Pencil in Onxy and a MAC 266 small angled brush, lightly line your upper and lower lash line.

Step 12: Line your upper waterline. This is called "Tight lining"

Step 13: Using a MAC 219 Pencil Brush and MAC Carbon e/s, tap over where you put the eyeliner pencil so that it sets it and won't smudge later on (upper and lower lashline).

Step 14: Apply one coat of L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara and let dry before you apply your false lashes. I like to go on to my lips at this point.

Step 15: Line lips with Maybelline "Rose" Lip Liner. Apply MAC "Lovelorn" Lipstick. Apply L'Oreal Color Juice Lip Gloss in "Grape Soda".

Step 16: Apply some falsies and you're done! I used Ardell 111's because they are my most dramatic pair I own.

And here's a sneak peak at my red wig for Halloween! Only 16 more days! :D
