November Favourites!

Hey lovelies!

It's the end of November already! Still no snow on the ground and it will be December tomorrow! I really can't believe it. Anyways, I have a lot of favourites this month! I had to eliminate some and cut my list down, but it still is pretty long. I was buying too much and loving it all. Did any of my favourites make your list?

Neutrogena Oil-Free Makeup Remover Wipes: I did a review about these the other day. You can read it by clicking here. These are great for removing eye makeup and foundation. I find sometimes when I cleanse my face, especially with Revlon Color Stay, it is REALLY hard to get every speck of makeup off. These take off my foundation effortlessly and also leaves behind a clean tingle feeling which lets me feel it did its job. I mainly bought these to remove my eye makeup and they work wonderfully. These are also perfect if you having a lazy day, get home late and just want to be rid of your makeup quick. I find these a bit pricey considering there is only 25 in a package. I cut each sheet in half and they still work great!

Clinique Youth Surge Moisturizer:
When I first reviewed this in my Clinique Haul post, I wasn't too impressed. However, now that I've been using this a bit longer it really does moisturize my face, leaving it baby smooth. I also like how it has an SPF of 15.

MAC Select Tint SPF 15: This was my HG foundation/tinted moisturizer. I never use to wear heavy foundations until this was discontinued. This is my last bottle and I only have a few uses left so I guess this is goodbye :( This was my FAVOURITE thing MAC made. It gave me enough coverage to even out my skintone and just made me look fresh and not too made-up. Please come back.

MAC Nail Lacquer in "Seriously Hip": I wasn't making much use of my Style Black collection until this month! This is the perfect colour for the holidays since it has a beautifully unique gold/greenish sheen to it. It also lasts FOREVER on my nails with a top coat.

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in "Blue Flame": I bought this because I wanted the other 3 in the collection and figured if I'm buying 3 I should buy 4. I'm so glad I bought this one now because it is my favourite of the 4! It is such a pretty colour and I've been rimming my eyes with it and it makes my green eyes POP like nothing else. This will also last me forever which makes me happy.

MAC Brow Pencil in "Spiked": This gives me a more polished look than my usual eyeshadow. I like using this on nights out because it REALLY helps define my eyebrows. It is so easy to use and my brows come out perfectly each time I use this. This is my first brow pencil and I will definitely be repurchasing this once I'm done.

L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner: My new HG pencil liner! It beats out my once HG Stila Eye Kajal by a mile. My eyes get really watery on occasion and when I put this in my waterline it stays put. AND it's truly BLACK! I love how dark and "intense" this liner is.

MAC Cremesheen Gloss in "Partial to Pink":
I bought this when it was re-released in the Holiday collection this year! This is my favourite pink gloss! It gives me the perfect light pink lip. I like to pair this with MAC Hue for my HG nude/pink lip!

MAC Lipstick in "Hue": Gives me a nice wash of colour without drying my lips out. The perfect shade of light pink. I think this would be universally flattering on everyone since it's very sheer (it's a Glaze formula). I can wear this alone without a gloss and it still looks incredible!

MAC Eyeshadows! (Solar White, Poison Pen, Plum Dressing, Smoke and Diamonds):
I've been on a MAC eyeshadow kick this month and it will continue into December when I do some major damage after Christmas! It's unfortunate that 3 of the 4 are either limited edition or discontinued. Solar White is a great pop of colour in the tear duct, Poison Pen is an AMAZING crease colour, Plum Dressing makes my eyes POP so much and Smoke and Diamonds is just beautiful! I would definitely recommend all these colours.

REVIEW: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes

First I have to say, "Where have you been all my life?!". Wow. I heard these were good, and I'm so glad I picked some up! I've been looking for a makeup remover that can remove hard to remove makeup without tugging at my skin and having to keep going over the same area again and again. These pre-soaked clothes remove foundation, eye makeup, and even waterproof mascara so easily! They are gentle on my skin and eyes, but leave a slight tingle feeling which makes me feel clean. For my own purpose, I will probably only use these for eye makeup removal and cut the sheets into halves or quarters (since only 25 come in a pack and I'm not about to use a whole sheet on my eyes). I like my current skin care routine so that's why I'm not using these for my full face, but on lazy days I will definitely be using these to remove all my makeup.

I was really confused in buying these because on the internet I saw a blue package that said "Cleansing Towelettes" and these are "Wipes" in a yellow package. Can anyone clear this up for me? Are they the same thing? Anyways, this particular kind works wonderfully for me and I will definitely be re-purchasing these when I'm finished.

After using the sheets they kinda reminded me of those Rorschach Ink Blot tests Psychiatrists used back in the day to determine if you had an underlining psychological problem.

Some Doctors still use these today, but seriously... how valid and reliable are these tests? So many flaws...anyways, I'm going on a tangent... remember, I'm a major in Psychology so I have lots of opinions in this field! LOL

Just for jokes... do you see anything in this sheet?

If you see makeup... you have an addiction. LOL

In all seriousness, look at all the makeup it took off my face! It got EVERYTHING and it could have got even more if I was wearing a ton of makeup. If you haven't tried these I HIGHLY recommend picking some up. They can be a bit pricey if you use a whole sheet every single day. For the amount of makeup I wear, half a sheet would be sufficient so I'll end up cutting them up (in halves or quarters) depending on if I'm using them on my whole face or just my eyes.

This makes me laugh every time...

I was looking at some old video I have and I found one of my dog Bella when she was just a little puppy (only 2 months old!). I have to share this with you just because it puts a smile on my face every time I watch it!

At the time, I was just taking a random video of her and she ended up doing some crazy maneuvers! Check it out by clicking here and visiting my YouTube Channel! If you love animals, you will love this! :)

Collective MAC Haul, Swatches, and Christmas Wish List!

Hey guys!
I've been buying a couple MAC items here and there and thought I would do a collective haul post, with swatches. My thoughts are that I absolutely LOVE everything because I've been lemming each item for a while now. I wasn't disappointed with anything. I know I told myself I wouldn't buy any more makeup until after Christmas, but I failed miserably.

MAC Smoke and Diamonds Eyeshadow

I was debating whether I should get "Smoke and Diamonds", but I'm really glad I did. It has a silver, green, taupe colour to it. It's insane! It's in the "Goodbyes" section of the Canadian website for MAC so if you don't already have this colour in your collection, I think it's a MUST! It also really brings out my eye colour, which was a pleasant surprise.

MAC Poison Pen and Solar White Eyeshadows

I bought these two eyeshadows because I had to have EVERYTHING Clara from Makeup By Clara used in this FOTD. It is one of the best FOTDs I've seen and the colours really compliment my eyes. Poison Pen has to be my FAVOURITE eyeshadow EVER now. It's a greyish-purple, Matte2 and is absolutely beautiful. Too bad it's a discontinued product. If you can get your hands on this I'd highly suggest you do!

Solar White, Poison Pen, Smoke and Diamonds

MAC Partial to Pink Cremesheen glass (LE)

I missed out on this the first time it was released, and once I saw it was re-released with the Magic, Mirth, and Mischief Holiday Collection I had to get it. This is by far my favourite formula MAC has to offer for lipgloss. They need to make this formula permanent. It isn't sticky like I find MAC LipGlass to be, it's SOOO cremey. The colour is beautiful and this is definitely a new HG product for me!

MAC Hue Lipstick

I've read countless blogs and posts about "Hue" so I had to pick it up and see for myself. I love nude colours, and this one does not disappoint. It's a nice wash of light pink on my lips and looks beautiful alone or paired with a lipgloss. This is also a new HG product for me! After my disappointing experience with all the Clinique goodies I picked up, I'm so happy to find new products that are HG status!

MAC Hue Lipstick + Partial to Pink

It's not even December and I'm close to being done my Christmas shopping this year! I always procrastinate with buying gifts for people that I get stressed out when I have to go places and it's SOOOO busy. I went to the mall and it was packed. I can't believe how many people are out all ready! The one person I'm having trouble buying for is my man! We've been together 3 years and I've bought him all the typical "girlfriend gifts" like cologne, watch...etc. You know the kind of gifts I'm talking about. Anyways, I'm having so much trouble thinking of what to get him because he always buys everything he wants! I know I know, it's the thought the counts...etc...etc., but he always gets me THE BEST gifts and I never tell him anything! I'll probably figure something out, but I was wondering if any of you ladies out there have any ideas from previous gifts you've given your significant other. I'm kinda leaning towards getting a PS3 (mainly for the Blu-Ray)...but I don't know...Blu-Ray discs are so damn expensive and DVDS seem just as good to me...LOL

Well that totally wasn't what I was planning on posting, but here IS what I was planning on posting: my wishlist!

1) A REALLYYY good makeup remover that can remove my eyemakeup w/ ease...I'm on the lookout. Specifically one that will remove mascara easily! Has anyone tried DHC Deep Oil Cleanser?
2) MAC Eyeshadows in Pan Form which include (Deep Truth, Soft Brown, Coppering, Scene, Club, Brule, Nehru, Embark, Freshwater, Rule, Yogurt)
3) MAC Vanilla Pigment
4) MAC Lipsticks (Creme Cup, Vegas Volt)
5) 2 15x Eyeshadow Palettes
6) MAC Trace Gold Blush in Pan Form
7) MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush (I've been wanting this for over a year and still haven't bought it...)
8) Brush Roll for travel
9) Gel Liner... I've never tried this and would like a good one (i.e., MAC, Bobbi Brown, something comparable?)

Then I have some clothes and c.d.s I want. I've never done a clothes haul! I just went to H&M and bought a few cute items...I really should do one of those sometime soon.

What is on your "Wish List". Doesn't have to be for Christmas because I know not everyone celebrates it. I love hearing about products people want to try!

Clinique Skincare + Cosmetics Haul

Hey guys!
I wanted to try the Clinique 3 step skin care line for a while. Nothing is wrong with what I was using (Nivea 3 Step), but I just felt I was in need of a change. I already purchased Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion a few months ago and Sears was having a "free gift" event where if you spent $26.50 or more on Clinique products you would receive a free Clinique gift valued at $70. It sounded like an amazing deal to me, so I figured why wait to buy the other two products when I can buy them now and get a bunch of free samples along with it. I don't know if this is all worth $70, but it definitely was a great set of samples. The free gift included: Rinse-Off Eye Makeup Solvent, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, Youth Surge SPF 15 Age Decelerating Moisturizer, Blushwear Cream Stick in "Glow", Lash Doubling Mascara, Different Lipstick in "Shy", and Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine. Anyways, I bought the 2 steps I didn't have (the face soap and the toner) and that brought me well above my $26.50!

Different Lipstick in "Shy"

Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine

Liquid Facial Soap in Mild: I use to use St. Ives Apricot Scrub every single day on my face and I think that's why my face is slightly on the dry side. I've been using this every other day to cut back on my exfoliating and it has helped balance out my skin and retain my skins natural moisture. It leaves my skin feeling so clean and soft. I don't think I would buy this again because I feel you can get the same effect with something much cheaper from a drugstore.

Clarifying Lotion #2: This smells like I'm rubbing Vodka on my face! Seriously. The cosmetic grade alcohol in this stuff is so strong it's sickening. The only thing I like about this stuff is that it leaves your skin with a tingle and you can feel it working. I would not buy this again.

Rinse-Off Eye Makeup Solvent: It's another eye makeup remover. Nothing special. Don't really have much to say about this. I keep it in my kit for quick eyeshadow changes so this should last me a while.

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion: This is probably one of the only items I would buy again. My skin just drinks this up and it leaves me glowy with a perfect base to start my foundation in the morning.

Youth Surge SPF 15 Age Decelerating Moisturizer: This is super greasy but it sets in after a few minutes. It does leave my skin incredibly smooth, but I haven't used it long enough to notice any other effects other than how soft my skin feels.

Blushwear Cream Stick in "Glow": This is such a pretty colour. One of my favourite samples out of the whole lot. It goes on smoothly applied from the stick and blends it well setting to a powdery finish.

Lash Doubling Mascara: Nothing I would go out and actually purchase. Doesn't really do anything fantastic to my lashes. It does give them a natural look, but I prefer big, long lashes as opposed to natural looking ones.

Different Lipstick in "Shy": The tube busted as soon as I applied it (and I didn't even use a lot of pressure). A pretty ordinary pink colour that is good for day wear. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this. I already have a lot of HG pink lipsticks. This one doesn't make the cut.

Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine: This is really pretty if you like sparkle/glittery lips, but I'm not a huge fan. Didn't do anything to plump my lips. I wouldn't buy a full size.

As you can tell, I'm kinda disappointed with Clinique. It's honestly not all that it's cracked up to be. I love skin care products and this was just "Meh" in my opinion. I will be going back to my Nivea 3 Step after I'm done with this stuff. All these samples I wouldn't buy again. Nothing stands out as "HG" or "Buy worthy" in my opinion. Do you have any of these products and love them? Let me know!

The Twilight Saga: NEW MOON TONIGHT!

Hey guys!
I haven't been this excited for a movie release in... well...EVER! I'm a huge Twilight fan (my puppy's name is BELLA! lol), as I'm sure many of you are. In my opinion, the first movie DID NOT compare to the book, but I really believe that the movie for New Moon will redeem the fact that the first movie wasn't that great. The movie actually releases tomorrow, November 20th, but my friend snagged some tickets for a 10:15 pm EARLY RELEASE showing tonight! Are you a Twilight fan? Did you like the first movie? Are you excited to see this movie? TEAM EDWARD or TEAM JACOB?! Let me know your thoughts!

Eyelash Conditioning Experiment w/ Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline)

For about a month now I've been putting Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) on my eyelashes before going to bed in hopes that it would help condition them, thus preventing eyelash loss and promoting eyelash growth. Numerous blogs I've been reading have said they do this to get their lashes to look as good as they do and I wanted to test this out for myself. After a couple weeks I thought I noticed a difference in how my lashes were looking. However, looking at before and after pictures there really isn't that much of a noticeable difference that would convince me to continue this nightly ritual.
Please disregard the residue makeup in the above pic

All-in-all I do believe my eyelashes are microscopically longer, but not fuller or thicker...yet. I think I see some baby lashes starting to grow so I might just have to continue this for a bit longer (though I don't have high hopes that this will make enough of a difference to matter to me). Additionally, I have not seen as many lashes falling out as I did prior to Vaseline use. I'm implore you all to give this a try and see if it works for you. I think its a good idea, but not something I'd recommend if you want dramatic results.

Lady Gaga Inspired FOTD!

As you know I love Lady Gaga and I loveee her new song "Bad Romance". I've watched the video 4892797849 times and really loved her makeup in it. It's not very wearable (only in the confines of my own home), but it was really fun to do! Here are a couple stills from the video I captured. It's insane.

I have no idea what she is wearing makeup wise, so I had to improvise. I'm tan, she's pale, I have dark hair, she's know...polar opposites! haha Also, I didn't have the right shade of blush or lipstick so I just kind of grabbed whatever bold colours I had. Now that I think about it... I really want that shade of blush and lipstick. LOL Do you have any suggestions?

Here is my version, kinda different, but whatever. I just winged it. I also tried to pale out my skin, so it's a bit lighter than my neck as you will see. I also should have brought the blush down about a centimeter lower (but that's the perfectionist in me talking). ENJOY! :D

Not a great pic skin wise, but I like how the sun made all my features stand out.

FAQ: What Camera Do I use and what settings?

Hey beauties!
Everyday it seems like someone asks me about my photos and how are they so clear, what settings I use, what kind of camera do I have...etc. I figured it's about time I do a quick post to answer your questions since I'm sure there are others out there who are curious as to the answers to these questions as well.

First of all, I use a Canon PowerShot A2000IS. It's a bit bulky and not as sleek as my previous camera, but it has 10.0 Megapixels and 6x zoom (which is why all my close up shots are so clear!).

Most importantly you need good lighting and to fiddle around with the settings on your camera. For my photos I usually go by my bay window in my house which is large and lets in a lot of natural light. In natural light it really showcases what the makeup would look like in real life. Flash tends to distort the colour and brings out different shades...etc. Sometimes I'm forced to use flash though because I sometimes take photos at night or there isn't enough natural light coming from outside.

For camera settings, I keep it simple and just leave it on the "AUTO" setting and let the camera do it's job. I then turn it on "MACRO" (the little flower icon) so that it captures really fine details, and then lastly I turn off the flash if I'm in natural lighting.

Just a personal preference, I don't like makeup photos that are photoshopped. There is a time and place for photoshopped photos (i.e., on a webpage banner, beauty shoots..etc.), however I believe that FOTDs and EOTDs should just be taken with good lighting conditions and not be altered. I find photoshopped photos you can't really see the makeup and it looks all distorted. If I happen to photoshop a photo, I will let you all know it is photoshopped! The only one I have altered on my blog is my photo above my profile info. Of course I'm not black and white with vibrant eyes, lips and nails...but I'm sure you realized this already LOL. I also sometimes use my mom's camera which has a "PORTRAIT ENHANCING" setting and I believe the only FOTD I used that for was my Pink FOTD.

That is all for now. Hope you are having a wonderful day! I'll be posting a FOTD later today

TUTORIAL: Contour, Highlight, Blush

Hey beauties!
Here is my much requested contour, highlight and blush tutorial! I didn't add bronzer to this because a lot of the times when I contour I either contour with a bronzer or with a contouring blush so it's interchangeable in my beauty routine. Hope you guys have an awesome weekend and aren't stuck working like I am. ENJOY!

Step 1: I applied moisturizer, concealer, foundation, powder, brows and eye makeup. You can see my foundation tutorial by clicking here.

Step 2: Swipe your angled contour brush in a contouring powder such as MAC Harmony Blush or use your bronzer!

To help contour, you can suck in your cheeks a little to see where the hallow of your cheeks are. For a guideline, you can also use from the top your your ear to the corner of your mouth. I start from the top of my ear, swipe down to the corner of my mouth and then blend everything out. You can add more or less based on your preference. Keep going back and adding more following the same steps if you like.
Your finished contour will look something like this.

Contour the Nose: I like to use a QUO blending brush for this part. It is similar to a MAC 224. I squeeze it with my fingers and swipe it in MAC Harmony Blush. Then I drag it down the sides of my nose and blend it out. This helps streamline my nose, making it look thinner. I rarely do this, only for lots of pictures.

Contour the Forehead and Temples: Using the same angled contour brush, use MAC Harmony Blush and lightly brush it along the top of your forehead and down your temples, blending it in as you go. I have a large forehead so this helps make it "appear" smaller. I don't know how good of a job it actually does, but I like to think it works LOL.

Finished Contour should look something like this:

NOTE: Some ladies like to work from bottom to top (i.e., contour, blush, highlighter). However, I like to contour, highlight and then add blush (since blush is in the middle and blends everything together). I do it both ways, as long as you blend in each section thoroughly it will look fine.

Step 3: Take your favourite highlighting product and use this. Today I'm using a liquid, but I use powder highlighters interchangeably. If you are using a powder, just swipe it on the same area and blend it in!
One pump of MAC Strobe Liquid

I rub the liquid in between my two index fingers and dab a few dogs on each cheek bone and put a swipe down my nose. Then I rub it in (i.e., along the cheek bone (under the eye socket) and down the bride of the nose.

Your finished highlight should look something like this

Step 4: Take your blush, I'm using MAC MSF in So Ceylon and a MAC 116 Blush Brush, and apply it to the apples of your cheeks. I'm doing the dumb "blush smile" to show you where you should be applying it. I think I look silly. LOL I like to swipe it a bit backwards and then blend it into my contour and highlight. Using just by applying it on blends everything nicely together so I don't have to do much work.
Your finished contour, highlight and blush should look something like this! I did my contour a bit dark so it would show up in pictures. Normally this would be a bit more subtle, but you get the picture :)

And here is the finished face!

Hope this helps you guys out! Thank you SO much for reading and following my blog :D

OPI - Dulce De Leche NOTD

Hey guys!
Here is the second OPI nail polish I got in the mail. I love this colour! I think it will be even more flattering when I'm more fair in skin colour. Also, I really like OPI because I don't have to be too good at painting my nails (which I'm not) and it still goes on smooth and even. What are your favourite shades? I've been eying "That's Berry Daring" and "Do You Lilac It".

By the way, I've stopped taking Biotin (for now) and my nails are slowly going back to the state they were in prior to using it. This saddens me. I'm going to start back up (slowly) in December because I think I went about it the wrong way. I got one blemish and I'm like "I'm done", but I'm starting to think it wasn't from the Biotin so I'm going to wait a bit, start again, and review it. If it happens again, I'm done. I heard I should be drinking more water and maybe taking a B12 supplement to avoid blemishes. I'll let you ladies know better in the near future.

Anyways, here is my NOTD:

I Won "The Blonde Bunny's" Giveaway! + Revlon's Nude Attitude Review

Hey ladies!
I just received a package in the mail with goodies from Lacy's Giveaway. Definitely check out her blog! You can do so by clicking here: The Blonde Bunny. The prizes I received were an Estee Lauder makeup case, Estee Lauder Take It Away makeup remover, a cupcake bracelet, and Revlon lipstick in Nude Attitude!

I love all the prizes, but I was especially excited to give Nude Attitude a try because I hear a lot of my fellow beauty bloggers talking about it. I've only worn it today and my initial impressions are both good and bad. I really REALLY love the colour, but it applies streaky and shows all the lines in my lips. HOWEVER, this probably can be solved with a primer (which I don't use on my lips) and I found it helped adding lipgloss overtop (which I normally would do anyways). So all and all I'm pleased and will purchase the lipstick again just for the colour! It's a perfect nude that's a bit darker than my favourite nude lipstick MYTH and works a lot better with my skintone when I'm more tan. Here are some pictures:

Revlon "Nude Attitude" without lipgloss. My preference is to add gloss.

New Lady Gaga! ♥

Love this song, Love this video... I think she's genius.

Check it out by clicking here:
"Bad Romance" - Lady Gaga

I went to see Gaga back in March and I'd love to see her on tour again when her new album "The Fame Monster" comes out! Here are some pics I took from her "Fame Ball" Tour!
