Wednesday, December 30, 2009 and Haul

Hey lovelies!
I've been hooked on and have placed a few orders over the past couple weeks! Here is my first order which I received within 3 days of placing my order! I actually love the website better than shopping at the store because I find all the good items are always picked over at the store. When I have to spend 1.25 hours traveling to my nearest F21, this is definitely a let down. I also picked up a couple items from Aldo which I have been wanting for a while. Have you shopped at

I'm in love with these boots. I think they're sexy.

Feather Earrings

Long Multiple Chain Necklace

Long Pearl Necklace
Bow Tights and Leather Gloves

I have a bunch of clothes in the mail for my next orders. I haven't been buying that much clothes because my makeup addiction took over this past year and basically all my money went towards building my collection. I'm going to be heading out of town in January to do some major clothes hauling so expect more "fashion" related posts in the future!

Beauty Products and Ebay

I absolutely LOVE to shop online! Ebay has become a great resource for me to:
  1. Find great deals
  2. Find items I can't get my hands on in person
  3. Save time going out and buying items in person
I am still very skeptical of who I buy from. I've had a couple bad experiences (one from a reputable seller), but mostly many excellent experiences. Here are a couple sellers I love doing business with.

  • If you buy several items at once (like me), this seller combines shipping making items even cheaper than I can buy in stores near me.
  • I don't have access to as many Ardell lashes as I would like. The drugstores in my area only carry selected styles/numbers, so I can buy different ones from this seller that I wouldn't be able to try otherwise.
  • I have bought several OPI nail polishes from this seller. I usually look at polishes in person and then buy them later online when I know which colours I want. The seller doesn't have EVERY SINGLE polish, but they do get new/old colours in depending on when you look.
  • I have gotten several questions about BEN NYE and where I purchase it from. You can buy it directly from their website/catelogue (but I found it confusing when I went on their site so I found a great seller on ebay).
  • BEN NYE is really affordable and great quality. If you wanna check out some of their products (I love the Neutral Set Translucent Powder) then this is a great seller to shop from.
Other items I have to buy on ebay since I can't find them anywhere in Canada: Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask and St. Moriz Tanning Mousse.

Here are some recent purchases fromBeautyzone2007. I needed a new pair of Ardell 111's (one of my fave falsies) and saw the Ardell "Lacies" and thought they were my style. Upon receiving them, they look almost identical to my 111's! I have yet to try them out, but I'm sure I'll love them just as much as my 111s. They may be a tad bit smaller which could be a good thing because the 111s are quite dramatic.

I also bought OPI's "Do You Lilac It" because my friend has it and I've been wanting it for quite some time. It's such a beautiful colour. Also, a newly discovered HG of my is Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat. It's absolutely AMAZING. I gave myself a manicure prior to Christmas and I have no chips or tips wearing off AT ALL 5 days later!

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays to all my readers! Thanks so much for following and leaving me your comments. I appreciate every single one of you who takes the time and shares your thoughts with me. It has been such a great experience getting to know all of you!

I will be away from the computer now until quite possibly the New Year. I may be back to my usual posting on the 28th, but for now I am going out of town and doing my usual Christmas rounds.

All the best to you in the New Year if I don't post prior to then.

Top 10 Makeup Products of 2009!

I've seen a couple of my fellow bloggers do a post like this and I thought it was a great idea! This year I started getting into makeup and building my makeup collection. From basically starting at having only a few products to the amount I have now I don't want to know how much I spent this year (a few thousand dollars easily...oh my). With this said, I found a lot of HG products that I couldn't live without. Here are my top 10 finds of 2009! What are your top 10 products you discovered this year?

In no particular order... my top 10 include:

1. MAC Solar White Eyeshadow (LE): Absolutely THE BEST eyeshadow EVER. Such a beautiful, unique colour. It is golden/white gorgeousness. The perfect highlight. Nothing I have come across compares to this eyeshadow. Too bad it's limited edition. I would pay top dollar for this though...that's how much I love it. If I could recommend buying one thing it would be this eyeshadow. My best friend tried this once and she's been coveting it ever since.

2. MAC Hue Lipstick: My HG lipstick for daytime wear. I wear it practically everyday to work since I bought it and it is the perfect nude/pink lip.

3. LUSH Big Shampoo: My most recent HG. It leaves my hair extremely shiny and smooth.(Review to come)

4. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion: Keeps my face balanced and I haven't had dry skin since. I can finally say my skin is "normal".

5. MAC Partial to Pink Cremesheen (LE): Cremesheen gloss is the best formula I've tried. It isn't sticky at all, it is extremely moisturizing and gives such a beautiful sheen to your lips. This was repromoted in Holiday collection and will be repromoted again March 4 for the "Too Fabulous" Collection.

6. Revlon Color Stay: Excellent staying powder. My face looks just as good after a day of work as it did when I first applied it. I do not have to do touch ups on my face. I only need to use such a little amount and it gives a flawless, dewy finish.

7. St. Moriz Tanning Mousse: I have to be honest. I'm a HUGE beach girl and love to spend days at the beach out in the sun. Yes, I do wear sunscreen, but even with sunscreen the suns rays are still harmful. Last winter I was hitting the tanning beds to keep up a "healthy glow", but I no longer use them, I use self-tanner. I find self-tanner actually gives me a better colour because naturally I tan reddish-brown (which I hate) and this gives my skin more of a golden brown.

8. Benefit High Beam: Glow in a bottle. I just brush it on my cheekbones and down my nose and I love the way my skin looks. Sometimes I'll use this as a brow highlight as well. I love liquid highlighters. I've tried many and this is still my favourite. I'm a sucker for a good highlighter... one of my weaknesses.

9. MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator (LE): Leaves my skin soft, clean, and radiant. This is one of my "treats" I give myself. I don't use this all the time because it's LE. I hate LE skincare. I hear MAC has the rights to the volcanic ash from the volcano where this stuff comes from...I'm crossing my fingers this will become permanent.

10. L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Eye Pencil: Best eye pencil EVER! Stila Kajal was once my HG, but this has taken its place. It does not budge on my waterline and I have VERY watery eyes from my contacts.

P.S. - I've been blogging since August and I just noticed the "Compose" button to edit text... And all this time I was trying to look up HTML codes for font sizes, colours, styles...etc. and failing miserably at editing my posts. That's embarrassing...

ALSO, I haven't been blogging much lately because I GOT AN INTERVIEW FOR THE JOB I'VE BEEN WAITING OVER A YEAR FOR! I've been so busy with the interview process and Christmas events that I've had no time to blog. The interview process is broken down into 3 parts (it's pretty intense) where you have to succeed in each section before you move on. I'm just waiting on a call for part 3...basically if I get the call I'm hired. I'll keep you posted. I'm really counting on this because I feel like a bum at the place I'm currently working. Is it bad that the part I'm most excited for is telling my current employer I quit? LOL

Cherry Culture NYX HAUL + Swatches! (PIC HEAVY)

Okay, so I ordered this on November 27 and it FINALLY arrived yesterday. One thing I hate about Cherry Culture is that it takes so long for the package to arrive in Canada. I swear they hold it at the border because the amount of cosmetics I get make up a bomb somehow... LOL I had over 2x the amount of product than this, but half was my friend Jasmine's (who is starting a blog, but hasn't made a post yet so I will let you all know the link when she actually has something to read).

I got quite a bit of product because it was 20% off the entire website! NYX is already cheap as it is, but this was dirt cheap. I honestly don't know why I buy so much high end products when I can get 10 things from NYX for the price of 1 high end item.

I know this is random, but does anyone have a remedy for a dry, scratchy throat? I wake up at night and it is sooo irritating it's hard to get back to sleep. I've tried drinking tea w/ honey and it works for a little bit, but then the dry, scratchy feeling comes back. I thought maybe I was dehydrated, but since I've been drinking plenty of liquids...I think I'm just coming down with something :( It never seems to fail that I get sick for the holidays! *sigh

Anyways, I hope you enjoy! What are your favourite NYX items?

Glitter Creme Palette: This was really cheap at around $4 and I can see why. The consistency isn't the greatest and it's a bit hard to work with if you want precise placement and an even distribution of glitter. I'm also thinking that these aren't eye safe, but I could be wrong. With that said, I still think it's a really pretty palette and I'll be using it for an FOTD when I go out New Years Eve.

Ceramic Trio: A nice grey palette good for a smokey eye for day and night. The middle and far right colours are too similar IMO. I guess the far right one is a bit more shimmery. However, I absolutely LOVEEEE the middle grey colour and can see myself using this palette a lot! The colours are pigment, smooth and easy to blend! One of my favourites in this order.

Ultra Pearl Mania:
I actually like the consistency of these better than MAC pigments! NYX are more finely milled. A great alternative to the pricey MAC pigments! Nude Pearl Pigment is fairly close to MAC Naked pigment, but a bit lighter and with no big glitter/sparkles! I was really impressed with all the pigments and will be picking up some more in the future.

Nail Polishes: These were really cheap so I decided to pick up a couple polishes for detail work. I've never really taken the time to do details on my nails before, but I gave it a go anyways. I ended up giving myself a manicure with the pink nail polish and silver glitter detail. I really love these polishes! I only used one coat of the Sinful Colours and it came out beautifully. I will definitely be buying more.

Round Lip Glosses: Only bought a couple of these this time. I'm in love with "Apricot". It is so pretty.

Round Lipstick: I absolutely love NYX Round Lipstick. They are so cheap, good quality, and stay on my lips a fair amount of time (depending on the colour). My favourites this order are Power, Louisiana, and Pumpkin Pie. Snow White is THE perfect red!

I'm really happy with all my purchases :) I <3 Cherry Culture & NYX!

NYX Glitter Creme Palette in "Royal Violets"

NYX Eyeshadow Trio in "Ceramic"

NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in White, Nude, and Walnut

NYX Nude Pearl and Walnut Pearl (bottom row) compared to MAC Naked and Chocolate Brown Pigment (top row)

LA Colors Art Deco Nail Polish in "Silver Glitter" and "Purple/Blue Glitter" and Sinful Colors in "Beautiful Girl"

NYX Round Lipgloss in "Ballerina Pink" and "Apricot"

From Left to Right: Louisiana, Narcissus, Strawberry Milk, Power, Pumpkin Pie, Iris, Circe, Snow White

REVIEW: LUSH Honey I Washed the Kids & Rockstar Soap

Honey I Washed The Kids:
This smells so good when using it in the shower. I wanted to take a bite of it. It didn't lather for me at all, but it lathered REALLY well for my boyfriend. He said because he has man hair on his arms and I don't (thank goodness! haha). After rinsing my body I ran my hands over my arms and they kind of skidded their way along. It wasn't smooth at all. After the shower my skin felt soft for 2 minutes and then once I dried fully I found it a bit drying!

Rockstar Soap

Rockstar: This is apparently one of their best sellers and many people like the smell, but I didn't care for it. It's not a bad smell, it's just not for me. I didn't even like it better when using it (like I did with every other product). This lathered a bit better than Honey I Washed The Kids, but with that said, it still didn't lather well. My skin was super smooth when I left the shower, but like Honey I Washed The Kids, it left my skin dry and itchy after a few minutes.

All-and-all I didn't have much success with the soaps. I probably won't be buying others, but I may ask for a sample of another kind next time I'm in LUSH just to see if I have the same problem. Have you had problems with their soaps leaving your skin dry? I find the only bar soap that doesn't leave my skin dry is Dove.

I Frequently Read Your Blog Award!

I would like to thank Lexi and Miss P for nominating me for this award! Thanks girls! ♥

So in order to accept your award, you must nominate 10 bloggers for the award and post it on your blog. Here are the 10 lovelies I nominate for the "I Frequently Read Your Blog Award":

Tahti Syrjala
Lipstick Rules
Natty (of course, cuz she's my blog bestie)

I chose 11 because that's my favourite number. :P There is definitely more blogs out there that I frequently read, but here are some of my favourites! If you haven't subscribed or seen these blogs you must! They all deserves tons and tons of followers!

Current Skincare Routine!

As requested, here is my current skincare routine! I would just like to say what works for me, may not work for you. Skincare is highly personal and I find you really need to play around with products before you find something that works for you. With this said, I'm very lucky because I have pretty good skin to begin with. A lot of it has to do with genetics. None of my family members have ever had oily or acne prone skin. I use to have slightly dry skin, but with my current skincare routine I would say it's "normal" now. I've achieved a good balance between cleansing and exfoliating my skin so that it doesn't get as dry as it use to (because I would use St. Ives Apricot Scrub EVERY single day and exfoliating your skin every day is really bad for it).

I really like the Nivea 3 Step Skincare routine, you can find it pretty much anywhere that sells skincare products. It worked well for me. Currently, I'm using the Clinique 3 Step because I wanted to treat myself to something "high-end".

When I first reviewed the Clinique 3 Step skincare routine I wasn't that impressed, but after further use I found my skintone has become more even and more balanced. It isn't as dry in the cheeks as it use to be and is considerably more softer. Since I have skin slightly on the dry side, I only wash my face once a day at night before I go to bed. I moisturize my face twice a day though.

Typical Day:
Before I apply makeup I always put on Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. This helps hydrate my skin and allow my makeup to apply more evenly. I find moisturizing kinda acts like a primer. I only use foundation primer on special occasions and nights out when I want to have the most long lasting, flawless application possible. Though it doesn't make that much of a difference IMHO.

On lazy days, I use the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes to cleanse my face. My face feels tingly and clean after using them and it gets rid of EVERYTHING SOOOO easily. If you have trouble getting Revlon Color Stay Foundation off, these do the trick effortlessly!

Most days I use the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap in Mild. You don't need a lot, I don't even use a whole pump of this and it works into a nice lather to cleanse your face and leave it smooth. I then apply Clinique Clarifying Lotion #2 on a cotton pad to tone and remove any residue makeup. This toner gives a refreshing tingle feeling and makes me feel like it's working, but it smells awful. The cosmetic grade alcohol in this stuff smells like you are rubbing pure vodka on your face. It's disgusting, but works. I then use one pump of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion all over my face and down my neck. I then follow with the sample I got of Clinique's Youth Surge Moisturizer with SPF 15. This would be a good daytime moisturizer since it has SPF15 in it, but I like to use it at night because I find it to be rather greasy and leave my face a bit shiny. The shine goes away after it absorbs, but it does take a little bit to sink in. After all this my skin is so fresh, clean and soft and hasn't been dry since I've started using this! It may sound like a lot of steps but it really doesn't take that long. No matter how tired I am at night, I ALWAYS wash my face. I can't even remember a time where I went to bed with makeup still on. I'm obsessive when it comes to skincare!

If I happen to get a blemish it is usually hormonal. I will dab a bit of Queen Helene's Mint Julep Face Mask on the blemish as a spot treatment and it is usually cleared up within 24 hours! About once a week I like to use this face mask as well to tighten my pores and get rid of black heads. This is my favourite facial mask I've ever tried and it leaves my skin tight, smooth, and radiant after using. It is really affordable which is a major plus.

Finally, I exfoliate a few times a week to slough off dead skin cells. If I had tons of money I would use the MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator 3 times a week, but I don't so I use it once a week or only on special occasions. I'm trying to make my one bottle last because it really does leave my skin so soft and radiant after I use it. Most of the time I use my trusty St. Ives Apricot Scrub which I have been using for years and years. My boyfriend and I both use it and keep a tub in all of our showers for easy access. This does a great job at exfoliating and it's a good price and works wonderfully for me so that's why I keep repurchasing. I also have an exfoliation glove which I use on my trouble areas (my chin and nose) on days when I feel they are getting a bit rough/little bumps. This really helps these areas stay clean and unclogged.

What are your favourite skincare products? Let me know what you use! Has anyone tried the LUSH skincare? I really want to try one of their freshmasks!

Have a good day!
