To The Beach/Family BBQ FOTD/OOTD

Hey Guys!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I enjoyed spending some time with my family on Saturday for a BBQ in honour of all the summer birthdays. I haven't posted an FOTD in a while since I haven't been wearing too much makeup since the weather got warmer (I like to keep it on the light side). I've been doing this look for the past few days now and really like it. I used most of the products I purchased from MAC's To The Beach Collection. Hope you enjoy!

...because I had to share this purse

Hey Guys!
I know, I know I keep saying sorry for being behind in posts, but really I am. I miss the whole blogging world, but I just haven't had time. This weekend I'm having a family BBQ at my parents house to celebrate all the summer birthdays. My parents have a gorgeous back yard with an in-ground pool which is perfect for hosting gatherings. Plus, my mom always fattens everyone up with delicious food and my dad provides the drinks... lol. Laying out by the pool is where I've been spending most of my free time on weekends.

Even Bella loves to swim! She's in the pool more than anyone... you can't get her out!

My parents dog, Molly, is sitting on the sidelines watching the young pup jump in. Molly loves to jump in too, but she's getting too old that she tends to overdue it during the day and then cries at night because she is so sore and can't get up :( So no more jumping in for her...

Anyways, here is a purse I bought at Aldo a couple weekends back. I think it's adorable. It cost around $45 and it came in black/gold and pink/gold. I liked this version the best :)

Have an awesome weekend! I'm off to the drive-in with Charles to see Toy Story 3 and Prince of Persia. Talk to you guys in a bit! Let me know what your plans are :)

Thursday, June 17, 2010 Picks!

Hey Guys!
I've been doing a lot of shopping this past week and decided I'd share with you a few items I purchased online today. As you know I'm OBSESSED with because it's affordable yet fashionable. All of this was under $100 in total!
I'm really loving earth tones (i.e., greens and browns) at the moment. I especially love the colour olive because it makes my green eyes look SUPER green! I'm also in the process of doing a workout called P90x so I got some jeggings so that if/when I lose weight I will still have some form fitting pants. I also picked up a brown, beaded maxi dress. I bought a black one that looked similar to this for only $15 over the weekend and it's very flattering and stylish. This style accentuates the waist and makes you look long and lean! I fell in love with the creme cardigan because the entire back is lace (you know how much I love lace) lol. What styles are you loving at the moment?

Upcoming Blog Posts!

I plan on putting up a bunch of posts this weekend. Here's what you can look forward to:

NOTD: Sephora by OPI "Metro Chic"

Hey Guys!
Here is a quick NOTD I wore this past week! I picked up Sephora by OPI "Metro Chic" in my latest online haul. I've been wearing a lot of brights on my nails lately, but I love the look of grey and taupe polishes so I always go back to those. Metro Chic is a dark smoke with a hint of purple. I love the colour and the formula is very long lasting and opaque. What other Sephora by OPI polishes do you like and recommend?

P.S. - I picked up Photoshop software today, but I haven't had time to upload it to my computer yet. I hope my photos will be even better in the future once I learn how to do a few tricks with this software! I have a few posts I'm going to work on this week and hopefully I'll have them up by the weekend. I've been really busy with work and I just started the workout P90x this past week and I'm sooo sore! I'll keep you guys posted if this program works out for me :) Follow me on TWITTER if you want to know more!

REVIEW: Misikko Hana Professional 1" Pink Edition

Hey Guys!
I know you've probably seen a ton of posts floating around Blogger about Misikko's Hana Professional Flat Iron. However, I've been using this for a few weeks now and feel I can finally give it a proper review. This review has been a longggg time coming so sorry for the delay. This flat iron was given to me as a gift to review.

This review is for the pink edition. I love anything pink so this was right up my alley.

PACKAGING: First of all, the packaging and accessories that came with the flat iron are INCREDIBLE! I have a carrying case, a mat to lay the flat iron on while it is heating, and another metal tin for storage! This comes with everything you could possible need and more! It has come in handy since I do travel between cities on weekends. When I first picked up the flat iron it didn't feel as sturdy as my current flat iron (which made me worry about the quality and if it was cheaply made). However, when using the straightener on my hair for the first time all my doubts were gone. It really did a nice job making it pin straight and giving it high shine. Finally, I like that it has an on and off switch, unlike the flat iron I already own, because I can't accidentally hit it off (since it's not a button).

STYLING: What I really love about this flat iron is that you can use it to curl your hair! My other flat iron is too big and doesn't have this function so I really love that I have the ability to do this now. It is also really easy to flip out or flip in your hair. I really like the 1" because you can get right to the root of your hair for those hard to get pieces that tend to kink near the root (bangs, layers...etc.). The straightener heats up to 450 degrees, which I don't need for my hair. I keep it around 370 and I can straighten pieces with one swipe through. I was worried that the 1" would take extra long to straighten my hair (currently it takes me about 5 minutes!). It took an extra minute or two to go through my whole head, which wasn't a big deal because it did do a wonderful job at making it pin straight.

BEFORE: Blow dried hair

AFTER: Straightened using Hana Professional 1" Flat Iron

The Hana Professional Shine Serum was a great extra along with the flat iron. It protects your hair from heat damage in addition to giving it shine. In the above photos I used this in my hair prior to straightening.

Overall I was very impressed with the Misikko Hana Professional 1" Flat Iron and will continue to use it on a daily basis. Thank you Misikko!
