REVIEW: Cargo Blu_Ray Pressed Powder

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Created for high-definition filming, this pressed powder is designed to make skin look flawless and airbrushed while being completely invisible under the scrutiny of high-def cameras. Our innovative formulation contains photochomatic pigments that adjust with ambient lighting so you look natural no matter the setting; micronized minerals fill in the look of fine line ; and irregular particle sizes create a light-dispersion effect to soften the look of imperfections. Perfect for anytime you want to look flawless without looking made-up. blu_ray is also perfect in photographs and is a bride favorite.

INGREDIENTS: Talc, Nylon-12, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Mica, Zinc Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Silver Oxide MAY CONTAIN (+/-) : CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491/CI 77492/CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77007 (Ultramarines).

I picked up this pressed powder prior to my wedding because I heard great things about this product and wanted a setting powder which was HD ready for all the photos which were going to be taken on my wedding day. Since, I have fell in LOVE with this powder. This powder trumps all my other powders (MAC, Chanel, etc.). I chose powder #30 which is great for my current skintone, NC40. I find it hard finding a good yellow based foundation, let alone a powder and this powder has a strong yellow undertone which is PERFECT for my skin, especially for photographs because yellow cancels any redness. I used this powder in conjunction with my MUFE HD foundation and my skin looked FLAWLESS. I also used the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray and my makeup outlasted 40 degree heat/humity, and an ENTIRE day wear without touch-ups (I attribute the longevity of my makeup to the setting spray, which is another product rave review which I will be doing). The product is very finely milled and buttery smooth to the touch. With this said, your brush picks up A LOT of product upon contact so be careful not to get powder everywhere. There is only 8 grams of product so it is a little pricey for the amount you get in the compact. Also, the packaging loses some points with me because it is hard to open and doesn't come with an applicator (I typically throw out the applicators anyways, but I love my Chanel compact and how it comes with a brush AND a sponge!). Furthermore, the powder only comes in 4 shades so most people won't be a perfect match. If you can find your shade I highly recommend this product. I plan on backing up several of these powders, plus getting the lighter shade #20 for the winter. I have finally found my HG powder!

  3. Aw no way! I never thought this powder was going to be that good. I also didn't expect it to be soft for some reason. I thought about purchasing it back when Cargo was 50% at Sephora when they were D/C'ing the brand but I didn't end up getting it. I wish I would have now! I'll have to test it out when I'm at ULTA.

  4. This is my all time favorite powder too!! And I totally agree. The packaging could use a redo. It's so hard to open and i dropped it one time, it definitely did not stand up to that.

  6. I just started using the blu_ray powder as well and I'm in love with it. I have never had a powder that gives me enough coverage, where I don't need foundation under neath. By far the best powder I have ever used. My make-up looked flawless in recent pictures as well!

I just started my beauty blog and wanted to know if it would be ok to link to your review? I will be posting a "my favorite products" post soon and would like to give you credit for introducing me to it! I also love silk creme foundation too! :)
