February Favourites!

Hey Guys!
I have a TON of favourites this month. I usually try and cut it down to a reasonable amount, but I've been crazy over products this past month and couldn't leave anything out...LOL

Something that I didn't include, but I think I should mention, is brown eyeliner. I've always been a black eyeliner girl, but lately I've been using brown and I love it! Brown isn't as harsh as black and I find it gives a more natural look, which I love! I really like Eyeko's Graffiti Pen Eyeliner in brown and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Whiskey!

1. Love & Beauty Brow Kit and Treat and Tame Brow Gel: I've been using these two products religiously this past month. Natural looking, yet polished brows have ALWAYS been the trickiest thing for me to do in terms of makeup. I use the little brush that comes with the Brow Kit for both the powder and the wax and my brows have never looked better! I set my brows with the Tame side of the double ended gel and my brows do not fade and stay in place all day. I love these two products MORE than my expensive Make Up For Ever Waterproof Brow Corrector and these only cost a few dollars each! This is definitely my number one favourite this month! ELF cosmetics makes the exact same items if you are curious.

2. Ardell Individual Lashes in "Medium Flare": I haven't been using full sets of lashes lately as I've been trying to look more natural and haven't been going out that much. The individual lashes work great because I can put 3-4 on the outer corner of each eye and they just add a little bit of extra fullness at the ends where I like my lashes to be the most full/long. I had trouble putting individual lashes on when I first started, but now I'm a pro at it. All I do is use my brow tweezers to grab and eyelash, dip it in DUO lash adhesive, wait for it to dry and get tacky and carefully set it on my lash line. It's fool proof!

3. Maybelline One By One Mascara: I've been using this quite frequently. It doesn't beat out my beloved Cover Girl Lash Blast, but it has been a nice alternative. It gives me more length than Lash Blast, but I still find myself going over my lashes with a Lash Blast comb just to get the look I like. For a review on this mascara, click here.

4. Talika Lipocils: Some of you may have noticed that my lashes are a bit fuller/longer than they used to be. I think I actually have MORE lashes, not necissarily fuller ones, but they have definitely grown while using this product! I'm planning on doing a full review, but I need to start using this day and night. I've skipped some days/nights since starting using this, but when I keep at it I definitely notice a difference. I can see my lashes going back to the way they were prior to using this if I were to stop, so it's not a permanent change, just a temporary one while I use the product.

5. MAC Naked Pigment, Brule e/s, Phloof! e/s, Soba e/s, Romp e/s, NARS Galapagos: I love the eyeshadow combination of all these colours. To see pictures, click here or scroll down to my last FOTD! I've been using these basically everyday with NARS Galapagos to set my brown eyeliner.

6. Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick and Lipglass: I need to backup these colours because they are the PERFECT nude lip for my NC25 skintone! To see swatches, click here. To see my FOTD using these products, click here!

7. EOS Lipbalm in Summer Fruit: This is my new HG lipchap. It smells AMAZING and leaves my lips so soft! For a full review, click here!

8. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in "Pink Power": I've been using this pretty much everyday this month. If you look at many of my previous FOTDs, you can see what it looks like on my cheeks. It is very subtle and gives a beautiful sheen to my cheeks. You really can't go overboard with any of the colours which is good for me because sometimes I'm a bit heavy on the bronzer/blush! LOL. It's the perfect contour, blush and highlight all in one! It has come in handy when I've travelled to my parents house to visit friends/family this month. To see swatches, click here.

9. ELF Flat Top Powder Brush: I've been using this everyday for my foundation and I love it! Since the bristles are more densely packed than my typical stipling brush which I use for my foundation, I find it provides better coverage. The bristles are very soft for such an affordable brush. I only paid a few dollars for this. The handle is a bit wobbly, but what can you expect from a makeup brush that costs a few dollars. Regardless, this was a great purchase and I'm looking foward to trying more ELF brushes (this was my first one!).

10. Estee Lauder Time Zone Moisturizer: This is just a sample size I received when I bought a full bottle of EL Night Repair. I use this day and night and when I wake up my skin is so soft which enables my foundation to glide on better. My skin is on the dry side and this moisturizes it quite well. I will be purchasing a full size of this once I run out of my sample.

11. OPI Dating a Royal: I've been wearing this on my nails quite often. This will be a great colour once the spring comes. I especially love this on my toes! I can't wait to wear this more when the warmer weather comes. I will be posting an NOTD soon.

12. MAC Pro Longwear Foundation in NC25: I initially thought my skin would be too dry for this foundation, but as long as I moisturize my face before and spray it with a bit of Fix+ after, it gives me the perfect, natural finish which lasts all day. I'm quite active at my job and this stays put throughout my entire day. I definitely will be purchasing a new bottle once this runs out. I may even get a shade darker for when I'm NC30...that's how much I love this foundation. The only other foundation I have a couple shades of is my HG NARS Sheer Glow. FOTD: Dinner at Moxies

Hey Guys!
Charles and I went out this weekend to do a little bit of shopping. I picked up a couple pieces of clothing and beauty products, but mostly stuff for the house (my latest addiction). We went out to Moxies Restaurant for dinner and the food was delicious! I took a few pictures before we left the house and in the car to show you how my makeup looked. I've been wearing this eyeshadow combination more times this month than I can count! I've actually placed the 4 MAC eyeshadows I used for this look in a quad so I don't have to dig through all my palettes...that's how often I've been using these shadows! Hope you all had a great weekend, this is my only day off and I have another 6 day week coming *sigh*. My February Favourites should be up tomorrow or the next day so check back!

My Hair History [[PIC HEAVY]]

Hey Guys!
I've had several requests to show how my hair has changed over the years. Frankly, my hair history is a bit boring because I never had my hair professionally done until I was in grade 12 (i.e., coloured, cut...etc). I had trims here and there at really cheap places like First Choice, but usually my mom would cut my hair for me. I was always a Tomboy and I played a lot of sports. I didn't start getting into hair or makeup until my first year of University when I started going out to parties all the time with friends. I did wear a bit of makeup in highschool, but mainly it consisted of mascara and a little bit of eyeliner. I never styled my hair...I was the complete opposite of how I am today!

Because my hair was pretty boring up until Grade 12, I will only show a few pictures from my early years. Hope you enjoy!

I believe I am 1 year old here. Look at my chubby arms. LOL It took forever for me to grow hair as a child and it was super fine. Now my hair grows like a weed and is pretty thick.

This is a picture taken of me when I was in Preschool. Can you believe I had blonde hair as a child?! I had this haircut FOREVER and then it started to grow fast and dark.

Kindergarten. I had my hair all nice and crimpy for photos and then it was raining and I had to put it up in a ponytail. I'm pretty sure I did it myself as it doesn't look combed and it's off to the side...I'm a product of the 80s FOR SURE!

Grade 1. I guess I was a sailor? LOL I remember hating my outfit and my teachers loving it. I was starting to grow out my bangs and basically kept my hair chin length up until grade 7 when I started growing it...

Grade 11. This is pretty much the last time I had my hair "natural" before I started to dye it. I would just put a bit of gel in it and scrunch up the ends to accentuate the curl in my hair. I have natural blonde highlights that run through my hair...it's a light/medium brown.

First time I highlighted my hair/got an actual "style" to my hair. I use to wear it long and cut straight across the bottom (my mom would do this for me). In grade 12 I went to a stylist for the first time and started doing my hair...etc. I still hadn't discovered makeup quite yet... LOL

I kept my hair highlighted for 2-3 years...I LOVED IT! I think I'm 19 in this picture. Sometimes I look back and wish I still had my highlights...I had two tones of blonde, plus low lights...it was really healthy and shiny but cost me a fortune to upkeep.

Eventually I stopped getting as much blonde in my hair because I wanted to darken it...then I just took the plunge and went to a dark brown...The next few pictures I was 20/21 in them? This was quite short in comparison to how long my hair use to be...but I really liked it because my hair seemed to have more body.

I experimented with some side bangs a few times, but never anything crazy. I was terrified of getting bangs because I had a bad experience when I was in grade 4 with bangs...they looked hideous...
The first time I dyed my hair black was for Halloween 2008 when I dressed up as Gene Simmons from KISS. Looking back I can tell I've really lost weight...I've gradually have been trying to lighten my hair to a dark brown since dying it black. Black was just TOO black and didn't have any warmth or dimension to it. People who have dyed their hair black will understand...lol
PRESENT DAY

I've kept my hair long and dark brown for years and years now. Even though I miss my highlights at times, I love my dark hair best. To maintain my hair I go back every few months for a trim and to have my roots touched up (my roots are a few shades lighter than my current hair colour). I will be doing a "Hair Care" post soon, but figured I'd start off with a little bit of history. Hope these pictures entertained you! haha It's fun looking back at how much I've changed through the years :)

FOTD + OOTD: MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick and Lipglass

Hey Guys!

This weekend I went to Toronto to Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. This is the only Medieval Times in Canada and I've been once before, a LONG time ago, when I was in school. When I went with my school, my knight won! This time I went and had the yellow knight and he won! Woo Hoo TWO FOR TWO! LOL. I probably won't go back a third time because once you've seen the show once it is pretty boring to see it a second time (and the food isn't that spectacular to go back soley for that). I ended up buying a strawberry daiquiri where you can keep the stein and it cost $17!! This place is a cash grab. Even to go into the "Dungeon" to see all these old torture devices cost money. Regardless, we got a good deal on tickets (under $40) and had a great time! I ended up taking a couple photos of my outfit and makeup before leaving the house. I really liked how everything turned out!

Even my lightest foundation doesn't match my skin at the moment. I've put off self-tanning far too long...LOL

WEDDING UPDATE: The Cake!

Hey Guys!

I haven't done a wedding update in a long time! Charles and I have finally booked our decorator, florist, and limo a few weeks ago when we went to a Wedding Show in town. We got some great deals, but I really don't have any pictures to share so I haven't bothered posting. My friends are currently planning my Stag and Doe which is getting me really excited! I've decided on a bakery for my wedding cake. This picture was taken from their website and is very similar to the idea I have in my mind as to what I want my wedding cake to look like. Mine will be 3-4 layers, taller and less wide, with similar ribbon and flowers running down the side. I don't have an exact picture, but this gives a pretty good idea!

Isn't this beautiful?!

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick and Lipglass Swatches

Hey Guys!

I received the MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick and Lipglass in the mail Friday and had to do a post ASAP on swatches as I know some of you may be curious as to what the new Gaga lipstick/lipglass looks like and are thinking of picking them up. Gaga 2 Lipstick is described as a light, neutral beige with an amplified formula. Amplified lipsticks by MAC tend to be very pigmented and cremey. This lipstick is no exception. The only thing I don't like about this colour and formula is that it accentuates any dryness/flakyness in your lips so you MUST exfoliate or apply a moisturizing lip balm prior to application. Gaga 2 Lipglass is a cream formula and feels amazing on the lips. It is described by MAC as a light, sandy neutral (with a micro fine shimmer). I find this is the perfect nude lip combo for my NC25 skin.

I forgot to take a picture of just the lipglass. I will post a picture of what the lipglass looks like on my lips later this weekend.

I swatched some of my MAC lipsticks which I thought were similar, in one way or another, to the Gaga 2 Lipstick. If you have one or more of the lipsticks I have, you can see the difference in colour from Gaga 2 to the one which you own. I found that NYX Circe was a near dupe to Gaga 2 (just a tad darker).

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom: MAC Creme D' Nude, MAC Gaga 2, NYX Circe, MAC Myth, MAC Peachstock, MAC Brave New Bronze

Will you be purchasing the new Gaga Lipstick or Lipglass?

REVIEW: Maybelline One By One Volum' Express Mascara

Me on V-day!

Maybelline One By One Mascara in "Very Black"

"Exclusive lash catcher brush catches, coats and de-clumps every single lash for our most refined volume from root-to-tip" - Maybelline

Typically I hate every mascara I first try. The first time I tried this mascara I didn't like it because I made a lot of mess using it (i.e., mascara went all over my lid and I had to touch up my eyeshadow). However, the brush takes a little bit of time to get use to as it is rather flimsy/flexible. Once I got use to the flexibility of the wand, I absolutely loved the applicator brush! The "lash catcher" brush does just that, it seperates lashes very well and does not clump them together even with multiple coats of mascara. DO NOT wait between coats of mascara. Work on one eye before you move to the next and don't let the formula dry.

I love how this mascara gives me all three things I'm looking for in this mascara: length, volume, and seperation! The formula is shiny, like the "patent leather" look of Lash Stiletto. It also doesn't flake or smudge throughout the day and holds curl very well! This mascara definitely hit a home run for me. Still, I'm not sure if it beats out my love for Cover Girl Lash Blast yet, but I will continue to use it and let you all know!

UPDATE: Picked up a new tube of Cover Girl Lash Blast and it is still my HG mascara. This is still a nice mascara, but CG Lash Blast is still my number one!

2 coats of mascara...1 coat didn't look as clumpy, but I like my mascara on the thicker side

Have you tried Maybelline One By One Mascara?

NOTD: OPI "Mod About You"

Hey Guys!

Happy Valentines Day! Unfortunately Charles and I work tonight so we can't celebrate together. Charles gave me chocolate, a beautiful card, and we both got each other tickets to UFC 129 in Toronto! haha. The tickets were really expensive, and we're on a budget right now for saving for the wedding/honeymoon, so we just decided not to get each other anything for Valentines Day and just say the tickets are our present to each other!

Anyways, I've been wearing OPI "Mod About You" for the past 4-5 days now and I have minimal/unnoticeable nicks or chips in the finish. This has been one of the most long wearing polishes from OPI that I own. I love the colour and thought it would be perfect to share on Valentines Day since it's such a beautiful pastel pink. I've started to take Biotin again so hopefully my nails will be much better in the weeks to come!
