Dirty Pirate Dreads

Hey Guys!
This is a pretty random post, but I thought I would share with you some skull clip-in hair extensions which I have been LOVING lately. A couple months ago I purchased two sets of "Dirty Pirate Dreads" from Vampfangs.com. I was first introduced to these when I was googling MTV's Cara Maria's hair. I absolutely LOVE her vibrant red hair and extensions/dreads she wears. Cara Maria has some bad ass hair, which I am so envious of. If I had the guts, I would dye my entire head of hair red like her. I also think she is absolutely stunning! Here are a couple pics of Cara Maria and the skull dreads which I love:

In the past, I have jumped on the "feather extension" bandwagon, but everyone has hair feathers, no one wears skulls! The best part about these is that you can just clip them in and take them out without damaging your hair! I ended up purchasing two of these and upon comparison they are definitely different. Each dread is hand-made and thus unique to every buyer, something which sold me even more to purchasing these.  You can wear the clip-in extensions either high or low in your hair depending on where you want them to fall. I like to stagger these on one side of my head and curl my hair.

You can choose from a variety of colour combos. I went for the original red, black and white because I liked the colour combo the best. The dreads are well crafted and secure to the clips. Each clip has two strands of skulls and retails for $16.95 each on www.vampfangs.com.

MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Honey Rose

Hey Guys!
I'm so surprised that I haven't done a review on MAC's Magically Cool Liquid Powder in "Honey Rose" yet as it is one of my favourite, if not my favourite, highlight product EVER! I even took pictures for this post back in the summer, meaning to do a review about it, but just never got around to it. I still have "cherylsbeautyblog" as a watermark across the photo. My spot where I take pictures is now overtaken by snow *sigh*. I miss my little rock garden. Anyways, onto the review:

Product Description
"A silky, feather-light powder, formulated with 70% water, dusts on to the skin as a cooling mist to set and enhance the look of any foundation. Beyond sheer; light reflecting and translucent. A virtually invisible way to add luminosity and a soft radiant glow to the skin."

There are three permanent shades available for purchase:

Honey Rose: Sheer rosy beige with multi-dimensional shimmer
Truth & Light: Sheer shimmer that reflects silver and pink
Cajun: Sheer bronze shimmer that reflects gold

Retail: $36.50

Honey Rose

Along with Honey Rose, I also have the shade Truth & Light which I got with the MAC Venomous Villains Collection. The Magically Cool Liquid Powders were first released with the MAC Venomous Villains Collection, but soon became a permanent fixture in the MAC makeup line. Cajun has never appealed to me, but I absolutely love Truth & Light, and especially Honey Rose. The consistency is really odd. Since these are made of 70% water, you can make the product giggle by shaking the container gently from side to side. Upon application, this gives a cooling sensation to the skin, but quickly goes away. It is the weirdest cosmetic product I own, but definitely one of my favourites. I prefer to use my Sigma F15 Duo Fibre Powder/Blush Brush (equivalent to a MAC 131) to do the job. As pictured on the left, I like to apply Honey Rose along my cheekbones, blended back to the hairline and slightly up around the temple. In terms of retail value, this may seem quite pricey, but the product will last you forever as you only need a tiny bit of product to highlight the face. If I had to choose between only owning one of these powders, I would choose Honey Rose hands down. Truth & Light is extremely light and barely shows up on my skin. I like to use Truth & Light when I'm fair, but I can use Honey Rose regardless of my skin tone.

Red Skinnies and Leopard Print OOTD - Kelly Karloff Inspired

Hey Guys!
I saw the above picture on Natalie's Pinterest of the beautiful model, Kelly Karloff. As soon as I saw this outfit, I was inspired to recreate it. On Monday, I went to see Mariana's Trench in concert. I like the band, but they weren't that good live. :S I ended up wearing this outfit to the concert. I guess red pants are the current trend because the lead singer was rocking some pretty sweet glitter ones.

Most of the pieces I am wearing are new, minus the leather jacket I purchased a little over a year ago at H&M. Obviously this is just an inspired look, as I don't own the exact pieces, but I did take from this the colours, patterns, and textures. I really like the way this outfit turned out and I am LOVING the red pants! I saw on LoveClothing.com that they had Criminal Damage pants in Neon Pink as well, and hopefully they come back in my size as I am dying to purchase them. Until then, I may have to buy the Fuscia.

What I Wore:

Leather Jacket - H&M / Black V-Neck Long Sleeve Shirt - Winners /

Ray Ban Sunglasses - Point Zero / Leopard Print Booties - Sam Edelman / Leopard Print Scarf - Winners / House of Harlow "Inspired" Clutch - Winners

Disclaimer: the red Criminal Damage jeans were sent to me for consideration. As always, these are my honest opinions.

MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick + FOTN + OOTN

Hey Guys!
I'm sure you've already seen a billion blog posts and YouTube videos about the newly launched Viva Glam Nicki Minaj lipstick. I ended up ordering my tube online as soon as it went up for sale. I received it just in time for the weekend to wear out for my girls night out. I'm absolutely IN LOVE with this lipstick and plan on buying a couple back ups. Like all Viva Glam lipsticks, all proceeds go towards HIV/AIDS relief so buying multiple backups of these I feel really good about. MAC describes this lipstick as a bright yellow pink with a satin finish. The colour reminds me of a barbie/flamingo pink. FINALLY, a bright pink lipstick that flatters my skintone. I tend to steer clear of blue-based pink lipsticks as they tend to be unflattering and make my teeth look yellow. This may be my new favourite pink lipstick...EVER!

Comparison Swatches

I tried picking out colours in my makeup collection to compare Nicki to. Initially, I thought this reminded me a bit of MAC Chatterbox, but I find Nicki to be much brighter on my lips. I misplaced Chatterbox, but will retake swatches of Nicki compared to it as I heard other people commenting on how the two were fairly similar. Nicki also reminded me a little of my favourite NYX lipstick, Fig. They end up being pretty similar on my lips. However, I prefer Nicki over either Chatterbox or NYX Fig. Buying Nicki supports a great cause, but if money is an issue, NYX Fig is a great alternative and won't hurt the wallet. When this becomes discontinued in a year, MAC Chatterbox is also a good alternative, though not perfect, if you are looking for something to replace it.

Promo Image from Viva Glam Campaign - Nicki Minaj & Ricky Martin

I was thinking about doing an "inspired" makeup look for Nicki Minaj's makeup in the Viva Glam campaign poster, but I've already seen a million people do it. If you are still interested, please let me know! I may just do my own version anyways because I don't typically wear such vibrant colours and I think it would be neat to see what it looks like on.

Do you plan on purchasing MAC Viva Glam Nicki?

Naughty Nautical Inspired OOTD + FOTD

Hey Guys!
As you know, Nautical is back this year as a trend for Spring/Summer 2012. Even though it is still Winter here, and I can't rock a spring dress or strappy sandals for another couple months, I still wanted to share a nautical inspired outfit that would be cute to wear for the warm Spring/Summer days to come. Note: if the word "Naughty" caught your attention, it is not what you probably thought but a play on words. The only thing naughty about this look is the brand of shoe I am sporting, Naughty Monkey! Come to think of it, I look nude in the first picture so that probably gave the wrong impression as well. LOL

As soon as I saw these shoes I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to pair with them. I remember, last year, buying this striped dress from H&M and never having a chance to wear it. The Naughty Monkey platform sandals are from their Spring 2012 collection and are called the "Marionette". You can purchase your own pair at Victoria's Secret! I love the stripe detailing and the vibrant yellow of the straps along with the chunky heel. I can't wait to rock these in the warmer weather! I think these heels would add the perfect pop of colour to spice up an outfit. Bright colours, such as yellow, are very trendy at the moment and I have since purchased another pair of yellow heels (to follow my recent purchases/hauls, follow me on Pinterest).
