Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder with Real Cocoa "Original Chocolate"

Hey Guys!
I've been trying out several new bronzers lately as I broke my HG NARS Laguna and was looking for something new. One of my favourites is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder. I have a couple other matte bronzers: NYC Sunny and Dior Matte Bronzer #003. NYC Sunny  is very affordable, but irritates my skin due to the concentration of Mica and doesn't apply to my skin as well as the Too Faced bronzer. Dior Matte Bronzer in #003 is a beautiful matte bronzer, but is sometimes a bit too light for my skin and isn't as pigmented as I would like.

"Bronzing has never been so delicious! Whether fair or dark, blonde or brunette, our lightweight matte bronzers work to create an authentic-looking rich tan year round. Infused with real cocoa powder, our skin soothing formulae banishes redness and evens out skin tone naturally while improving skin's texture and clarity." - Too Faced

About the Product

What It Is:
"We've combined the natural detoxifying effects of real cocoa powder with our signature Too Faced bronzing pigments to create matte bronzers perfectly suited for pale to deep skin tones for a touch of summer all year-long."
More to Love:
  • Matte Formula: Choose between the original Chocolate Soleil (deep matte bronze) and Milk Chocolate Soleil (light matte bronze) to achieve a perfect sun-kissed, shine-free warm glow.
  • Chocolate Scented: This tan-in-a-compact excites the senses with our signature, natural chocolate scent.
  • Real Cocoa Powder: The neutral cocoa shade tones down red and evens skin tones, naturally.

Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Zince Stearate, Boron Nitride, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, Benzyl Benzoate, Parfum/Fragrance, Theobromo Cacao (Cocoa) Fruit Powder, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Benzyl Alcohol. (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil in "Original Chocolate" is the perfect matte bronzer for deep skin tones (i.e., a nice tan in the summer, or the fake tan which I sport half the time) and is highly pigmented. The colour is a beautiful brown, with zero orange. Since this is a matte bronzer, it is also great to use as a contour. Though the Original Chocolate is said to be used for deep skin tones, whereas the Milk Chocolate is said to be used for fairer skin tones, I have been using this when I am NC25 with great success, but I have to be very careful not to overdue it since it is highly pigmented and a little goes a very long way. This is my favourite matte bronzer to date for all the reasons listed prior, as well as it is long wearing and applies evenly. The product initially seemed a little gimmicky to me because it is made with real cocoa and smells like chocolate. I thought to myself, "Anything that smells this good can't work as well as it smells". The product itself lives up to the hype which I've heard on YouTube AND smells delicious to boot. The scent actually lingers on my skin slightly after applying it, but slowly fades away. On MakeupAlley, this is rated a 4.5/5 with a 91% buy back rate based on 162 reviews. This is quite a good rating as far as MakeupAlley is concerned. I would definitely repurchase this bronzer after I have finished this, though I don't see that happening anytime soon as I only need to use very little product per application. If you have been following my FOTD's, I did use this for my Nicki Minaj/St. Patrick's Day look. Here is close up of me using this as a contour on NC25 skin:

Favourite Mascara Combo at the Moment

Hey Guys!
I just wanted to share with you my favourite mascara combination at the moment. As you know, I love Cover Girl Lash Perfection Mascara (click here for review) and I use to use L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara religiously until I forgot about it and randomly started trying every new mascara known to man. Recently, I got back into using my L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara and I can see why I loved it so much. It gives thick, DARK lashes. I really love the separation that CG Lash Perfection gives, along with length and volume, but L'Oreal Voluminous makes my lashes extra thick and darker. I've been loving using a coat CG Lash Perfection and then a coat of L'Oreal Voluminous for extra volume and colour. In the pictures my lashes are a tad on the clumpy side, but I'm in need of replacing both mascaras soon. Generally, I do like my lashes to be on the clumpier side, yet separated. It's a personal preference. Here are some pictures of both the mascaras combined:

Do you combine mascaras? If so, what's your favourite combination?!

Jeffrey Campbell Lita Spike in "Taupe Suede"

Hey Guys!
If you watched my February Favourites video, you know that I included my Jeffrey Campbell Lita Spikes in "Taupe Suede". My Litas are the most comfortable heels I own! For those of you wanting to purchase these shoes, they are always sold out online at many retailers, but are currently available for pre-sale on Solestruck. I am in no way affiliated with this company, I just wanted to let you guys know that you can FINALLY get your hands on them. I've included some pictures below for reference:

These bad boys come in a wide range of sizes from 5-11 and in my experience, fit on the large side. The Lita Spikes come in 7 different colours/styles so if "Taupe Suede" isn't your thing, but you like the design, be sure to check out the other styles. These retail for $189.95 US, they ship for free, and I didn't pay taxes or duty on them when they arrived at my door in Canada. Typically I always pay some form of duty or HST, but Solestruck is very online shopper friendly. Definitely check these out if you are interested as they are well crafted, unique, and well worth the money.

Nicki Minaj Viva Glam Inspired St. Patrick's Day FOTD

Hey Guys!
Happy, belated, St. Patrick's Day! Yesterday, I went out with my besties to catch some sun on the patio and have a few green beers. It was such a beautiful day, it felt like summer. Everyone was wearing shorts, but I opted for some bright green tights to go under the black high waisted skirt I was wearing (not pictured). My outfit was inspired by a leprechaun. It feels really odd saying that...never thought I would say a leprechaun inspired my outfit choice LOL. Anyway, my makeup was also inspired, not by a leprechaun, thank goodness, but by Nicki Minaj's Viva Glam campaign. I've been wanting to copy her look for some time now, but have shied away since I'm not a huge fan of green eyeshadow. I actually really love how my makeup turned out. Here is a breakdown of everything I used:

NYX Cream Blush Swatches

Hey Guys!
I have a little obsession with NYX Cream Blushes. I thought now would be the perfect time to share swatches of my obsession as Cherry Culture is having a 20% off sale on the ENTIRE website until March 15th. Did I mention NYX cream blushes are also currently $1.00 off. That means, instead of paying $6.50 US you are paying $5.50 minus 20%. That's $4.40 each!

NYX Cream Blushes are long wearing, pigmented, blendable, and generally just an amazing quality cream blush for an affordable price. I honestly can't say enough good things about these. Some of the blushes are sheer, but they are intended to be "natural". If I were to pass on one blush I would say skip Boho Chic as it is a bit too sheer for my liking. Rose Petal I've had the longest (as you can see I've used it multiple times prior to swatching). Also, Rose Petal and Orange are a thicker consistency than the other blushes. I must say I like the thicker consistency better, but noticed that the two thicker consistency blushes contain Mica (which I'm sensitive to), but I haven't had trouble yet. I'm assuming this is because Mica isn't one of the first two ingredients. Also, I've been looking FOREVER for a hot pink cream blush and must say that NYX "Hot Pink" is everything I've been waiting for. I think it will look amazing for the warmer months when I'm rocking my self tan. Also, I find it hard finding a good "Orange" blush without it pulling coral. The NYX cream blush in "Orange" is a straight up vibrant orange. I'm also really excited to find this!

I ended up ordering NYX Cream Blush is Tan, Tea Rose, and Golden so I'm excited to try those. I think there is only 3 left that I will not own, but they don't particularly interest me. I also ended up purchasing the Beauty Blender Double Duo Kit. I've always wanted to try the Beauty Blender, and for 20% off, my purchase is justified. LOL

Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker Blush and Bronzer

Hey Guys!
As you know, I'm a HUGE fan of Phyicians Formula products and the pH Matchmaker series has to be my favourite launch from the company, EVER! If you have purchased Phyicians Formula products from your local drugstore before, you know that this company is a bit more pricey than your average drugstore brand. Personally, I don't mind paying a bit extra for Physicians Formula products as I find the quality of their products to be right up there with high-end companies. Once I heard about this new launch, I instantly started searching my local drugstores and Walmart to get my hands on some of the products. Initially I thought there was only one bronzer, blush, and lipgloss, but soon found out that there were two of each product. I ended up picking up one bronzer and one blush and ended up passing on the lip glosses as I already have too many similar shades. The bronzer came in two shades: light bronzer, and bronzer. I ended up picking up "Bronzer". The blush came in two shades as well: natural, and rose. I ended up picking up "Rose" as my local Walmart was sold out of "Natural" at the time. I was a little disappointed as I really LOVE "Natural" by Physicians Formula in their Happy Booster Blush and don't care as much for their "Rose" shade in comparison. I was also concerned that since I already owned the Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in both "Natural" and "Rose" that the shades would be nearly identical since they have the same name. I was happy to see that the shade "Rose" in matchmaker was slightly different than "Rose" in the Happy Booster.

Directions: May be worn alone or over makeup. Brush evenly over face and neck for a natural-looking tan glow. For best results on dry to very dry skin, apply moisturizer prior to using bronzer.
Blush Ingredients: Talc, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Dimethicone, Zinc Stearate, Zeolite, Dimethiconol, Sorbic Acid. + / -: Iron Oxides, Mica, Red 27, Red 28 Lake, Red 7 Lake, Titanium Dioxide, Ultramarines.
Directions: Using a soft powder brush, sweep over blush. tap excess powder from brush before applying. Brush over cheeks to define and contour or apply right below cheekbones for a more defined and dramatic look.

Packaging: The packaging is unbelievable. The product comes with a brush in the bottom compartment, a large mirror, AND a light up LED compact! As far as packaging is concerned, it doesn't get much better than this.

Formula: Overall I quite impressed with the performance of the product. The product claims to wear 14 hours and though I haven't worn my makeup quite that long, I can attest to it holding up though at 10 hour work day. If you are deciding between getting a pH matchmaker blush or a Happy Booster Blush, I would definitely recommend the pH matchmaker as the wear time of the product is much better. Both the blush and bronzer are very pigmented. When I touch my makeup brush into the product, I find a lot of product/powder comes off so it is essential to tap the brush off prior to application or you are going to get too much product on your face. One thing to note is that there ar tiny silver circles around the edges which have a silver overspray. Personally, I do not care for the overspray and will soon wipe it off as I don't want chunkily silver glitter particles on my cheeks. As for the claim that this adjusts to each individual's skintone, I can't attest to this being true or not since I haven't tried it on another person yet. Personally, the colour swatched on my own skin is true to what you see in the pan.
