Barbie Inspired Makeup Tutorial for Halloween

Hey Guys!
I'm sure most of you already know what you are being for Halloween, but if like me, you needed a costume last minute, Barbie is really easy to put together. All you need is a lot of pink and a blonde wig. For Halloween, I don't typically like to buy my costume in a package, though they are convenient. My favourite Halloween costumes have always been ones that I threw together myself! Luckily I had a hot pink dress and shoes to match and my friend Jenny on YouTube sent me the Barbie necklace in our swap. Even if you already know what you are being, I think it is really fun to watch he girls on YouTube transform themselves with hair and makeup into characters for Halloween. This is one of my favourite times of year because I love transforming myself with makeup. I wish I had more time this year to do more Halloween Makeup Tutorials, but this month has been pretty hectic. I hope you all enjoy this makeup look and if you are interested in seeing step-by-step how I recreated this Barbie look than be sure to watch my video on YouTube!

BaByliss PRO Nano Titanium 12 Jumbo Roller Hairsetter

Hey Guys!
If you saw my last post, you may have noticed I had a lot of volume to my hair. To achieve this very full, loose curl hairstyle, I used a 12 Jumbo Roller Hairsetter by BaByliss. I have used hair setters in the past, but I really like this one because it has ALL jumbo rollers instead of a mix. I never end up using the smaller rollers because I like the effect big rollers give more. I use hot rollers mainly for volume, but love the big curls and how little work I need to put into my hair.

"BaByliss PRO Nano Titanium 12 Jumbo Roller Hairsetter is perfect if you are looking for sexy waves or tight curly hairstyles. This set includes 12 jumbo easy to grip, very soft velvety rollers that allow you to achieve any and all curly looks. Nano titanium ceramic cores quickly and evenly heat these rollers up, providing maximum heat transfer to let you create smooth waves and curls for clients in record time! A color-changing sensor on the tip of the roller lets you know when rollers are ready." - Beauty Stop Online

Features Include:
  • 12 jumbo (1 1/2") velvety rollers with ultra-fast heat up
    • color-changing sensor on the tip
    • ultra fast heat up
    • Soft velvety surface is comfortable to use, kind to your hair, and gives a good grip
    • lightweight for maximum root lift
  • 12 butterfly clips
  • 12 metal clips
  • On/Off switch with indicator light and power off
  • Nano-Titanium Core
    • an exceptional conductor of heat; maintains stability in ultra-high temperatures
    • heat retention, weight and smoothness help reduce time
    • yields maximum far-infrared heat, penetrating the hair from within for faster styling with less damage

If you are in the market for a hair setter, I highly recommend this one! The rollers heat up fast, are easy to grip and STAY hot for a while after setting them in your hair. One complaint I typically have about hair setters is that the rollers don't hold heat for a long time. In the past, I have used a blow dryer after setting my rollers, on the lowest setting, and re-setting the rollers. I don't have to use added heat with these rollers! Another nice feature about this product is that it comes with 12 metal clips AND 12 butterfly clips! I like having the option to use one or both depending on on how much support I need. I personally like the butterfly clips, although sometimes they can make indentations in your hair if your hair is still hot and easily marked. A great alternative is to use the metal clips for the top layers of your hair so you can avoid this problem. One issue with this hair setter is that there is only one heat setting. My old hair setter had an option from 1-12 as to how high I need my rollers to heat up. This isn't a problem as the one temperature setting seems to work very well with my hair, but could be a problem for others who don't want to use as much heat.

Butterfly clips and metal pins used.
Both are effective at holding the rollers in the hair
Hair after rollers are removed.
Before finger styling.

Using hot rollers is a fast, easy way to achieve volume and curls with little effort or skill. When I'm getting ready for my day, I like to put the hot rollers in my hair and let them set while I do my makeup. Once my makeup is complete, I gently unroll the rollers and finger style my hair. Beautiful, voluminous hair doesn't get much easier than this!

MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection Inspired FOTD

Hey Guys!
I was looking for face charts online for the MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection and came across the one featured at the side. I thought this was a gorgeous look inspired by the late and great Marilyn Monroe. There wasn't a list of products used, but I'm sure at the store they have those details. I ended up improvising and using products I already had in my makeup collection, in addition to products that I purchased from the new collection. It feels like it has been FOREVER since I've featured a Face of the Day on my blog, but these are definitely my favourite posts to do! I hope you enjoy this look as I really enjoyed recreating it!

It's funny because in some photos my face shape is ALMOST like the face shape in the MAC face chart! LOL Also, red lips really bring out my green eyes...I feel I look like Christmas, so I use to avoid red lips, but have been LOVING red lips lately!
