LORAC PRO Palette Review, Swatches and Comparison between the Urban Decay Naked 1 & 2 palettes

Hey Guys!
I'm back from vacation AND I'm actually writing a post?! Surprised?! It has been quite a while since I've sat down and wrote a post for my blog. YouTube has taken a lot of my attention as of lately. However, recently I have come across some amazing new products and figured it's about time that I write  reviews because many of these items I have been using for months now and think they deserve their own proper review. Be prepared for more in-depth posts on my blog! I'm back!

The first product I will be reviewing is the LORAC PRO Palette. I received this palette in the mail the day before I was leaving for my trip to Cancun, Mexico and decided to unpack the two Urban Decay Naked palettes I initially had in my luggage and take only the LORAC PRO palette along with me for vacation. I used this palette every single day and used all colours but one (slate) so I feel I have a good grasp on pigmentation, application, and overall wear-time of the eyeshadows contained in this palette.

Description:
"Go PRO with the LORAC PRO Palette! Created by celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw, this PRO artistry palette is packed with 8 Shimmer and 8 Matte Eye Shadows in all the shades you need to create the hottest looks straight from the Red Carpet. LORAC's velvety-smooth shadows are infused with soothing botanicals and are ultra-pigmented to perform wet or dry so you can shade, shadow, line and define your eyes, just like a PRO.
PRO Palette contains 16 Eye Shadows and a Mini Behind the Scenes Eye Primer for stay-true color that lasts, a PRO must-have."

0.32 oz PRO Eye Shadow Palette. Top row matte colours, bottom row shimmer.
0.17 oz Mini Behind the Scenes Eye Shadow Primer
Formulated WITHOUT:
Parabens
Sulfates
Synthetic Fragrances
Synthetic Dyes
Petrochemicals
Phythalates
GMOs
Triclosan

The first thing I noticed when I opened up the palette and looked at the colours was that half the eyeshadows were matte. I personally prefer matte eyeshadows so this is a huge bonus. The second thing I noticed was that many of the colours were extremely similar to colours in both the Naked and Naked 2 palettes. On closer inspection, I noticed that the colours contained in the LORAC PRO palette that were similar to the ones in the Naked palettes were actually my most used and favourite colours in the Naked palettes. For me, the LORAC PRO palette contains my most used shadows from both the Naked and Naked 2 palette and is very well suited for me in terms of my taste in eyeshadows.

Packaging: the packaging is thin, sleek, and perfect for travel. The palette stays securely closed with the use of magnets (reminiscent of the first Naked palette). Inside is a large mirror, similar to that of both the Urban Decay Naked palettes. I personally prefer the packaging on the LORAC palette versus the Urban Decay ones because of how compact, thin sleek, and simple the set up is. Upon opening, you can easily tell the matte shadows are separated from the others with a full row along the top.
Formula: All the eyeshadows are very pigmented but EXTREMELY powdery in texture. Some eyeshadows are better formulated than others as well. I find the colours closest to the right side of the palette are better in terms of application and texture. The colours closest to the right side are also the darker colours. A delicate hand is needed when picking up product with a brush because a lot of product is picked up with even then gentlest of touches. This being said, I can see hitting pan on many of these eyeshadows in no time at all. I wish the eyeshadows weren't so powdery because I could honestly say I would just ditch my Naked palettes and use only repurchase this. However, if I could only afford one palette, I would choose the LORAC PRO, only because the colours are more wearable for me. I find the Naked 2 palette to be too cool toned and I don't typically use silvery colours and the Naked palette is easily dupable. As said previously, the LORAC palette contains similar colours from the Naked and Naked 2 palettes, ironically my most used colours in those palettes.

Left to Right: (matte) White, Cream, Taupe, LT. Pink, Mauve, Sable, Espresso, Black

Left to Right: (shimmer) Nude, Champagne, Gold, LT. Bronze, Pewter, Garnet, Deep Purple, Slate

The colours are extremely easy to blend and I would have to say the overall quality of the shimmer shades are better than the matte formulas. The wear time is great. The palette comes with an eyeshadow primer which works just as well as any other primer I have used. All-in-all, this palette is a great addition to any makeup collection. If you are looking at only picking up one palette between the Urban Decay Naked palettes and the LORAC PRO, I honestly would go with the LORAC since it has the best of both the Naked and Naked 2 colours contained.

  5. You look RADIANT in your vacay photos. Hope you had a blast!
I just received my first ever Lorac palette as an xmas gift and am in the same boat as you. Love the colours, find them better suited to my skin than Naked2, but some are just too powdery... it's a hard thing to get past!

    1. We actually had a photographer on the resort take photos of us. It was included in our vacation package. I've never done anything quite like it, except for on my wedding day, so we had a blast. The dress I bought off of Nasty Gal.com and it is currently on sale. :)
